Default Need advice!

Back to SH4 after a hiatus, as always many new mods and improved old ones so I need mod-related advice and reccomendations. RFB was, is, and will be my main mod.

1. I see there are two main "environment" mods - Pacific Environments 4 and Environmental 4.4. Which is generally considered to be better? Which is less hardware demanding? Which is more compatible with RFB (my main mod)?

2. Honestly I don't like new graphic changes in latest version of RFB (gauges and tabs etc) Any good nice UI mod to recommend? I don't need anything radical just the realistic looking gauges, command telegraph and nice tabs. I'd go back to RFB for v1.4 gauges and UI but am not sure about compatibility issues.

Well that'd be all for now, thanks for your opinions and suggestions in advance.

I use

RFB 1.5
RSRD for 1.5
RSDS patch for RFB 1.5
PE4 with all mods that come with it
RUIM uniform mod
ROW sound effects

These mods work good together.
There Is a program that allows you to customise your own gauge and task bar thing in the SH4 FB mod section.

What is "FB mod section" and where do I find it? Also what is RSDS patch for RFB 1.5?

I know most of the above acronyms, but obviously not all, thanks

FB=Fleet Boat (to find the fleet boat mod section look straight ahead, you are in it.
RSDS=Run Silent, Dead Silent!! :rotfl:. I would imagine it is a typo for RSRD but I've been wrong before.

There is a program called Menu Maker if you don't like the tabs, and there are some MODS for telegraphs in here too.

Now that's funny - to me at least because I changed my radar depth to "R" which is as you know right next to "D" for dive - so instead of rising to radar depth the boat occasionally dives... lol

Gotta say I am not too happy going back to SH4 after a hiatus. Pacific Environments 4 completely destroyed my FPS rate for some dubious improvements I find completely superficial (bow spray) so I had to reinstall.

I still can't find "a program that allows you to customise your own gauge and task bar thing in the SH4 FB mod section", any help would be most welcome.

And I don't like the graphic/UI changes introduced in the post v1.5 patch versions of RFB at all.

I guess what I am hinting at is.... I would like to see some honest criticism in mod threads instead of only "I love you all guys" posts.

I preferred RFB in Beery's long gone pre 1.5 days, when it was at least properly documented, and I loved some of the very simple environment mods that just corrected the look of the sky, from the "early" days, that I just can't find anywhere now

This will allow you to change the 'buttons' and 'tabs'

In this thread are some HUD dials and some orderbars, don't know if any will interest you, but it's a place to start anyway.
