Sorry to hassle you,
But is it practical for you [that is a restore point less than two weeks old] to use the RESTORE point of Vista to Pre-GWX/ Pre-SH3? If so, uninstall SH3, goto the SH3 folder in Documents - delete it, then use the RESTORE point and give another try on the reinstall? PLEASE be very carefull on our advice. I'd feel more comfortable that you had a TOTAL backup of your rig BEFORE trying ANY of this. ![]()

Yes I restored to a point prior to installing GWX and deleted all semblance of SH3 (as far as I know) but still I get the CTD.

U still have account control enabled? If so turn it off. It serves no purpuse for stand alone pcs but cause trouble for sh3 by using lockers for every registered login user of a vista user system.

Your might click on the details of the Windows screen that come up. The next screen might show you what program or file caused the crash. It will be near the top of the box.
