Default SCX Reunion...

Hello Lads,

Just trying to remember the old SCX Crew...

Ramius
Xabbarus
Thomasew

Oh my, there was a Swiss lad who made the most fantastic 3D models as well...old age and head contact with steel bulkheads has taken it's toll...help me out here lads.

Ahoy there Mac, ... and all you other lads.

The chap I think you are referring to, ... methinks ... is/was .. 'MBot', .. who did the Victor Subs.

Don't forget 'Deep Six', .. who did the bulk of the models for SCX.

.. also, ... 'Te Kaha', .. one of the ealiest members of SCX, .. who did lots of repaints, .. especially for Aircraft etc.

Other than these lads, ... no others come to mind. Of course, .. there were a couple of lads, .. who 'claimed' to be part of the SCX team, .. but, never made a single contribution ... and they shall remain nameless ..

Nice to chat to ya Mac ... best wishes to you and yours.

And, .. of course, .. best wishes to all the old crew ...

Cheers for noo ...
Tom ..

You piddling about in 'Sardine Cans' again ..

Forgot about ' Madcowz' .. our first Webmaster, and gracious host to the SCX Website. Cambridge lad he was, .. if I recall.

Anyway, .. glad to hear from you. Keep safe in dem Subs ... and Remember, .. when in doubt ... 'Hold Your Breath'.

Cheers Mate ...

Tom you old Boll*x My god how good to hear from you! Deep Six, what a man and what a model builder, how the hell could I have forgot him Oldtimers diesese I suspect. Do you ever hear from him? MBot, thats the lad I was thinking of. Oh, he did some nice work and Te Kaha, he was painting skins long before I even knew what they were, BUT, SCX would never have been what it was without you Tom (No, do not interpret this as me wanting to bear your children )

I vainly made an attempt to produce an SCX mod when you went 'south' for a while. I made a bag's of it but you rescused the situation and saved us all

But Tom, who was the lad who produced the DB editing tool?

Don't be a bloody stranger mate!

Hi Mac, ...

'SCEdit' was developed by 'Ludger Styra' ... can't remember what his forum name was ..

Last chatted with him a couple of years ago, .. I think, .. when he was working on 'DWEdit' for 'Dangerous Waters'. I was also working with him to develop a conversion tool, .. to convert the SCX database to the DW format. Although it worked in principal, ... it still meant that I would have had to check each and every database record, ... and remove or add things as the case may be. At the end of the day, .. I thought it might have been quicker to just start all over again ... and enter each record manually. Alas, .. it would have been a loooooonnnnng and arduous process, .. and one, .. at that time, ... I was in no mind to undertake.

Anyway, ... it's great to see that the old bunch are still surfacing from time to time ..

Hope all is well with ya ...

Cheers fae the noo ..
Tom ...

|Now you have all returned to the fold can we lock you all in a room and get you to import a lot of the DW improvements into SCX?

Hi guys I am still around every now and then, mostly checking if there is an news from Sonalyst about the future of this great genre (altough this is rather hopeless...). This spring I went back into DW a bit and had a blast with it for some months. Otherwise, I spend most of the time with my flightsims.

SCX was a great time, I had lots of fun doing models for it. And I learned a lot in that time.

One of my first posts on subsim.com back in 2002 was wether someone could do something about the horrible 688/688(i) model in Sub Command. Having never even thought about 3d modeling, I would have never believed that I would be the one that would eventualy improve it

Suffering a severe attack of nostalgica, I dug out some old pictures of that time:

This was one of my first 3d models ever.

The Alfa was second.

Then came the Akula. These never went anywhere, but were good practise.

This was a second go at the Los Angeles which ended up in SCX. Mapping was done by Ramius and textures by Mcarm if I remember correctly.

This was the SCX model that replaced the Akula I and improved. Mcarm did a fantastic texture for it, unfortunatly I don't have a picture.

One of the Victors that ended up in SCX. In that time I also did the Ohio and a Tango.

Some of the various helicopters I did. Having not yet learned how to map and paint, these were left unfinished along with a lot of other models.

The EH-101 made it in SCX with a texture by Teka Teka, if I remeber correctly.

The Audace model was nice (for those times standard).

It got a horrible map and texture done by me I think that was my first one ever.

Some more lousy painting by me on the Bazan. Did that ever go to SCX?

The Virginia CGN was one of the last models I did for SCX, it also failed at my underdeveloped painting skills

Man those pictures bring up memorys

Great to see these pictures, what a pity you didn't continue working with SC and DW, DW is badly in need of some better models :hmm:
