Clive, that would be a grand idea. I rely on a couple of former shipmates who were sonar tech on 637 class boats. I, unfortunately was a Machinist mate, so my knowledge relies (technical) on their replies. All too often what i get from them is "we can hear a whale fart 5 miles away..." What I do know is when we would "bottom the boat" and rig ship for ultra quiet, we could hear the coolant pumps of Soviet Subs heading out of Murmansk. We would begin our tracking party and Sonar would make recording s of their screw(s) etc...

I would enjoy running some mods on sonar, but i am not well versed in editing things, so I would need a step by step instruction on how to employ the mods. I work full time but can certainy do this on weekends. you can PM anytime regarding this.

Also when we did these "northern runs" we had what we called "spooks" on board. These were specialist who went with us and we also had a special transducer mounted on the sail. To this day i do not know what it was called. But to us it looked like a penis sticking out of the forward part of the sail. I am sure this helped us to hear better than the stock BQQ-5
