Default Current and weather ...

Hail fellow reprobates!

I was wondering if current is modeled in as I have not experienced being 'set'.

Also, my graphics are superb and I especially enjoy heavy sea and rain when I get it. I enjoy the challenge of managing the boat and keeping transit and hunt objectives.

Is the weather historical on the day and region or random computer generated?

Current is not modelled AFAIK. Easy test is to go to 'all stop' and see if you move over a few hours - my observation has been you don't.

Weather is generated through the sim. It's a subject of a lot of discussion, as the 'default' tends to have poor weather, and the conditions often don't change for days.

If you go to the mods forum you'll see lengthy discussions about changing the weather gneration.

Hope this helps.

Yeah i dont think current is modelled really.
in rough seas you will obviously make lesser speed....but thats about all that will change from your course.

pity really...as from the books ive read....battling against the current and the seas was common.

a u-boat's progress and position could alter quite dramatically depending on wether she was sideways to the sea or pushing against the sea.

then again...i'd probably start moaning if current was modelled in game..constantly tweaking the rudder in bad weather :rotfl: :rotfl:

Tide Atlas(s) were issued to U Boats. Imagine using the current (even a rip current) to your advantage to slip through a defended channel or not fetch up in shallow water at low tide. Just depth sounding in a port is not enough. You just may hit "hard water" with the bow while the sounder is telling you 10M under the keel.
