Great vid! I still don't completely understand the situation in Georgia because I lack a cultural background to really comprehend the war and the people involved, but this thread helps me to see some of the dynamics at work.

On another note, I feel bad for Merkel. Did you see how sad she looked? I'm sure she would much rather that German troops were marching into Georgia instead of Russians. It's been more than a half-century now. Don't you think maybe we should let Germany invade France? Just a little bit?

I've just got back from my yearly two week holiday in Russia so have been watching the Russian news and keeping tabs on western outlets via the internet.

It is interesting the differeing viewpoints but although I am not naieve to believe everything from the Russian news services as gospel I was also disappointed with the bias against Russia in the western press, especially the BBC. It is almost as if as soon as anything happens around Russia's borders there are preprepared headlines proclaiming the situation as all the fault of Russia and anyone on the other end is just a victim of aggression.

I don't know if any of you say the press conference that Sakashvilli held 2 hours before Georgian troops entered Southern Ossetia where he proclaimed that the situation would besorted only by negotiation and peacful means. This contrasted with the press conference I saw on Sky News and BBC with Sakashvilli on the steps of the Georgian parliament building saying something completely different.

Also I find it quite hypocritical of the US and EU governments making provocative statements against Russia at the same time throwing their full weight behind Sakashvilli all the while ignoring the anti-democratic moves that Sakashvilli made against the press and TV stations in Georgia.
