The saddest part is the way the truth was / needed to be handled. Her loss was reported as unknown, (friendly-fire screw-ups were not reported for reasons of morale) and the truth only came out in the mid 90's, i believe, 50 years later, when many war secrets became public. My father was obviously very upset and exceedingly angry with 'Germans' through out his childhood, and spent many years coming to terms with that and 'forgiving' them.. only to learn it was his own beloved side that did the dirty deed. He found that very hard.

Anyway.. on with the nice pics & thanks for the links.

This is completely unbelievable and unacceptable!
War heros passed over in silence to avoid having to admit a cruel mistake.

Really stupid and it makes us realize that in wartime, we are only very small pawns in the hands of great players ...

I don't know if your father is still alive but if so, send him my friendships.

All side in a war had and still have this issue. Propaganda is a powerful tool.

The boys uptop the U-6 "Der Grobe Zwerg" (The Rude Gnome) enjoying the departure music before leaving base.

For those german speakers out there...please let me know if this translation is off. It's what I got from an online translation site and I know how inaccurate those can be.

There are several possible translations. I'd go for "Der ungezogene Zwerg".

ungezogen sein = to misbehave

From the same linguistic origin you'll find "rüde" in the german language, meaning "uncouth". This would work too - "Der rüde Zwerg" - but sounds strange.

Thank you Mittelwaechter.

I never fully trust those translation sites. As a former english-only speaker before I had the chance to live in Rome for a bit, I know there tends to be big differences between literal translations and how something should or would really be said.

Here is mine, current mount U101, type VIIB
In the game the black background turns transparent, but not the black lines of the emblem, can someone tell me why? And if possible, how I can fix it as I'd rather have the black background on.
