Gentlemen,
I have read most of the pages and didn't come across my problem, so I was hoping you could help me. Tried to torpedo a single merchant which I classified as a small merchant (no mistake possible, very recognisable). Measuring the distance with the scope at X10 it gives me the wrong distance all the time. The difference is quite big, while my map and experience tells me it is at around 2500 yards, the scope tells me it is at 5000 yards. Getting closer, the difference stays around double the real distance. Using GWX 2.1 without anything else. Any ideas? Thanks! |

b) If you use the stadimeter, is your lower crossline lined over the waterline? It is extremely important that the lower part of your angle follows the waterline, or the angle will be wrong. c) Stadimeter is best used if the AoB is enough, at least, so that you may see the highest mark on the ship (often the flag mast), at middle-to-close range, and in calm weather. I would approach at least 2000 yards from the target before using the stadimeter. If the target is too far, I would plot an approach to get closer at a good firing angle (1000-1200 yards). d) If you do all of the above, yet don't get right estimates, you could simply use the compass on the nav map, measure the range to target, and enter it manually in the TDC via the attack map. ![]() Last edited by Drakken; 08-08-08 at 12:03 PM. |

i have a problem with gwx 2.1. i have reinstalled a clean copy of silent hunter3 and patched upto 1.4. then i installed gwx 2.0 then installed gwx 2.1 and copied the .cfg files from the greywolf homepage and put them into C:\Program Files\SH3 Commander\cfg directory like advised. but when i start the game i get a CTD saying sound.act is the culprit. cant play the game at all.

Have worked my way through this thread and i am very impressed with the helpfulness shown by you all.
Have installed 2.0 and 2.1 and it seems ok so far (but then I read the relevant bit of the instructions). Now I need to read all of the manual, nearly printed it out but as my finger hovered over the print button I noticed the 644 pages. I know for a fact at least one of my toner cartridges won't last that long so I shall cherry pick the pages I need. I was very spoilt in that I have come back to SH3 after a while so all of GWX is new to me and it seems like wow overload. I liked in particular:
Now I must return to the battle as it is August 30th 1939 and I see dark clouds approaching. |

Drakken,
Thanks for the advice, I have however found the problem. There is a reference in another thread to the mast height of the small freighter being twice the size it should be, and this would be fixed through the next gwx update. This explains the double distance using the stadimeter. The solution in the mean time is like you suggested, to enter it manually in the TDC. Thanks again. -Erik. |

I don't understand my second patrols in the 10th Flotilla in 1945, GRID ARAFURA, but I arrive at the place again is as incomplete mission. All the patrols that I did don't get to complete GRIDS and to patrol 24 hours some is BUG??
Did I navigate in the allied bases in Pacifico and Indian Sea, ANY allied ship in the ports????? I was only attacked by airplanes, because that happens, somebody already played those missions and it got to accomplish the patrols, help me. |

Umm, Claudius, have you enabled the GWX Indian Ocean files? if not you won't see any shipping..:hmm:
you may also not get the patrol completed message while in the Indian ocean, but that doesn't matter since you don't get renown for patrolling the grid... Just make sure you have the Indian Ocean files enabled with JSGME or you'll not find any ships ![]() |

Hi fellow Kaleuns,
Fresh install of SHIII (shipped as 1.4b), fresh install of GWX2.0, applied the Armed trawler CTD fix, applied GWX2.1 update, but use career files from previous install. WinXP SP3. I'm homebound on my second Feindfahrt and got a radio message about a convoy heading for Gibraltar and I turn to give chase. Say, 20-30-ish km away from convoy the game CTD's and wonder what can be done to narrow down the problem. The problem occur at the same time/place in the game and is 100% reproducable, and I would *really* like to know what's going on. As a small experiment, units worked when looked at in the Museum, and the game goes on if I reverse course. Fette Beute, Niels C. |
