Default FileFront nonsense

At the risk of flogging a dead horse with this one; what the hell is the story with this "FF" (FileFront) thing?

It has allowed me to download NOTHING despite being registered? Doesnt it affect anyone else? I really, really want to get some of these excellent looking mods but for some reason, can't.

What surpose does it perve?

Filefront downloading is pretty easy. Try this link
http://hosted.filefront.com/bobchase

On the right side of Chrono.zip you should see download Now in light blue and underlined. When you left-click on that link, a pop-up box should open up with three options: Open, Save, and Cancel. Choose the Save option.

If the pop-up does not appear, then did you hear a beep and see a small yellow line appear in your browser screen?

In this case, you must right-click on that line and follow Bill Gate's instructions to get your file because your browser's security is keeping you from getting the pop-up box.

Happy Trails,

Bob Chase

There was an error processing your request. Please wait while your request is retried in 10 seconds...

If this error persists, please contact FileFront support.

---->is exactly what im getting consistently. Now, I did think it was my Kasparsky Security thing, which is a nightmare frankly, but I checked its quarantine and it doesn't seem to take issue with pop-ups etc. My interpretation of the above message is that the site is rejecting me???

AGH....

BTW thanks for you help, bobchase

Incidentally, i found some thread mentioning "enabling cookies" and I have and if it worked for some, it hassnt worked for me. The quest continues

Not me. In fact I only use FileFront because it's given me less trouble that anything else I've seen, except for files hosted at someone's own site.

I wish I could help, but I have no idea what the problem could be.

I have same problem for a months and i did not find any solution for this.
I also tried with cookies but also didn´t worked, i only concluded that sometimes if you try to repeat DL procedure for about 10 or 20 times(klick on download and then klick on BACK on IE and then klick again on DL) sometimes you can succed to download something, but not working on every downloads.

It´s very frustrating!

I'm using Firefox 3 and still receive those messages!

I just wait and wait until the download screen appears...

Maybe it has something to do with the location of where are you downloading from... :hmm:

This may be far fetched but maybe your ISP is restricting it or throttling your speed?

Welcome aboard

FF became an ass licking company which recently changed their policy to "stay free for downloads" as they say. Where you from ? The question is will you be able to download files with or without problems is your location.
If you live in big country such as USA, UK, Canada, Russia you will have no problems downloading files with one click to download.

In my case when I contacted the FF support operator by e-mail and reported my problems with always delayed or even impossible conditions to use their service. I got the simple reply to "keep trying again and again" since the priority of services is firstly adjusted to BIG countrys in order to stay a free service for them..

Last time I've spent half an hour clicking and waiting with no joy to download the mod I really wanted.

I have the same issue d/ling from Filefront. I have to try 10 to 20 times. I'm in Tokyo - hardly a 'small' country, and i have highspeed internet.

Strangely the problem only started round about january. I now prefer any other file host

furthermore my ISP has changed without any effect on the ff issue.

edit: well i guess maybe ff thinks japan is a small country - it's quite likely that there are japanese language file hosts that are preferred by Japanese users

Id say I should try repeated and relentless clicking of D/L buttons.

Im quite happy my machine is not at fault. Don't ask me why. We have an uneasy alliance and I dont want to ginx it.

BTW Im in Ireland so 'ISP' is a sound and not an abbreviation

Thanks for your replies, lads

I also just tried using a proxy server and again no joy. I dont understand

padmack; Sorry to hear about the FF troubles, it's just popular because usually it's easy to use.
What are you looking for? Chances are there's an alternate d/l site.

As I said, I've never had a problem with FF, but, as you point out, I live in the USA. I usually stay away from RapidShare because of the hoops they make you jump through, but...

Why don't you all make a list of mods you want. I'm sure that between several of us we can get them up on RS or another site, so you're not left out.
