Yes the little marker is removed by GWX, there is no quick option to turn it back on but you can redownload the umark.tga file from several sites, inculding many of the filefront sites from many of the GWX team and others
search the sh3 mods forum for umark.tga and you'll find more links than you ever wanted for that file
