It could work. I have to admit I've been spoiled by a couple of certain MMORPGs when it comes to environments. Asheron's Call, for it's time, had some of the greatest landscapes I'd ever seen, and City of Heroes did a very good job with urban jungle.

I'd love to see an Elder Scrolls (or Fallout) game with a land area the size of AC, and just as detailed. Size of Staten Island, I believe.

As far as Oblivion goes, it was better than Morrowind, but its fast travel feature is what made it feel 'less' than Morrowind. Morrowind, to get somewhere, you had to walk!
I loved exploring the mountains on Oblivion. My biggest issue with it was how...I dunno, 'full' the wilderness seemed and how most things you found tied into a quest somehow. Some of my fondest memories of Morrowind were checking out the random stuff strewn about the hard-to-reach places in the game.

Ironic, really, that Oblivion, with fast travel, had horses and Morrowind, without it, did not.

Which of those games is the best...I can argue with myself for hours over that, much less someone else.
Not quite true Vlad. Then the technology wasn't as advance as now. They could have put more true. But like then and now they have time restraints. However I feel because of the lower graphics they put more visual into words that gave a different fealing than the digital images used today. Todays graphics are kicka$$ but game life is rather lame. Smaller and less detailed than older games.

Anyhow Beth's going to do what they want regardless whatever we want.

This is because time and effort that used to go into making a great game is now swallowed up by graphics design. See the catch 22 here? I'd like a happy medium!

Nope. Compromises will always be a part of game design. Or any kind of design. Time you spend on making a bigger world is time you can't spend on adding details to what you've already made. No technology has managed to change that yet.

If game companies had unlimited time and budget, things might be different, but they don't. No one does.

There are games made this year that are just as good as games made 'back in the day'. Better in some cases. Statements like yours just show you're either unlucky enough never to manage to play one or jaded enough you can't enjoy a nice piece of gaming art anymore.

Fun fact: 90% of everything is crap. Most games released are not going to be a Fallout or a Mass Effect or a Quest for Glory. Most are going to basically suck. A few years from now, we'll remember the good ones and have mostly forgotten the crap ones. Everything works this way. TV, radio, books.

They're doing what someone wants or they wouldn't sell games.

I love it. I love having to eat and drink to survive, rather than just find medkits and be able to waltz around infinitely without resting.

That is totally true dude.

RDP if you want a decent game to play. I'm beta testing Oblivion Lost 2.2 mod for Stalker.

Going to have alot of new features over the OL 2.11

Some feature are,

-possibility of join all factions after you completed the game

- coop with npcs, you can hire your faction members and your friends, and lead them against the enemy factions "They can do map transition with you but takes some time." This feature is pretty cool you can build your own army hehehe.

- your hires heal you if you get wounded "They need med kits to heal!!!"

- npc's are looting bodies and collecting items from the ground

- npc's able to do transmutations "transmutation for those who are wondering are artifacts that can be modifed into newer more power super artifacts."

Lol so funny watching a NPC looting a corpse you just killed.

new weapons added in OL2,

Bizon
Ak47
T33 tokarev
Mac10
Steyr Tmp
PKM
MG3
Revamped LR300
Mosin Nagant New weapon for 2.2, skinner working on perfecting its look.
Saiga 12
Benelli M3 sawed off
Toz34 Sawed off
Bm16 Full sized
Kriss submachinegun

Alot of the missing stuff removed by the devs are now restored. We're working hard to release it before Clearsky comes out.

Alot of new stuff being added every day. When this mod comes out its going to give a new name to STALKER. Total freeplay game. Should be released in a week or 2.:hmm:

Ok guys, I've let you rave about this video for a while, now hopefully no one minds if I write what I think. :hmm:

I find this video incredibly lame and exactly fulfilling the predictions that FO3 will be Oblivion with guns. This became extremely apparent in the one scene with the hand to hand combat, it exactly looks and sounds like oblivion, just different armour. Everything else that annoyed me about Oblivion is also there, the ridiculous shoulder pads, the extensive bloom, the lack of the right athmosphere, the consolification and juvenilization of each and every element of the game.

And, funny, now I finally understand how they could say Fallout 3 would be turn based, and at other times that say it would be not. They've taken bullet time and called it turn based combat, brilliant idea :rotfl:. And besides, every time I kill somebody the camera will switch to an external cam, I'm sure that will make The Matrix fans happy. Just don't see how this belongs into a RPG, except of course you call it "next gen".

Anyway, don't want to step on anyones toes, so I leave here with my negative review. For those who loved Oblivion this should be what they want, but my message to Bethesda : NO THANKS!! If in a couple of years all computer games should be like that I can finally stop playing them altogether.

Though not RPG, Stalker Clear Sky is the only game in this genre I can still look forward to, at least it has athmosphere and plays like a PC game.
