A somewhat decent example of the sanity of Python comedy writing - The Cheese Shop Sketch.
Eric called this "one of John and Graham's dictionary sketches", and you can see what he means. It reads as a hysterically funny encyclopedia. When you consider it, it's a very simple setup. Man wants to buy some cheese. There isn't any. End of sketch.
