First of, it's the Yamato (named after a province in Japan). Isoroku Yamamoto was the Japanese admiral who planned the attack on Pearl Harbour.
![]() Now that the history lesson's out of the way... The convoy/ship despawning has nothing to do with mods, but it's just the way the game handles units. There is a file called the "campaign layer" that is loaded when you start the game. The campaign layer dictates when and where what ships spawn, their route, type of vessels, chance of spawning etc. When the ship/convoy reaches the end point on the route, rather than having them stop in the middle of the sea, the game simply despawns them. |

Thanks, glad to hear it's not a mod problem. I posted that early in the moring and definately had Yamamoto on the brain after hours of trying to figure out WTF was up. I just don't understand why the route back spawn only lasted for 15m since it was the begining of the return to Japan.
I restarted the campain and flanked out and found the convoy June 1st and had plenty of time to take out all three BB. It took 7 to eight torpedoes to sink the Yamato, and what a show, definately the best fireworks display I've seen in the game. If anyone wants to give it a try, just start a May 25th '42 campain and head to 31,30 North starting at 178W and head directly East. Get there at flank, refuel at midway and then go standard once at the coords above and you should be set. Nice way to start off a campain and celebrate a 4th of July ![]() |
