I've never looked into FSB before. I've run CPU-z and I'm sure my system needs optimizing. I'll look into it further on the net. Thank you for pointing this out!

Processor is Core 2 Duo T7200

CPU PAGE
Bus speed is at 166.3 MHz
Rated FSB is 665.0 MHz

MEMORY PAGE
DRAM Frequency = 332.5 MHz
FSB/DRAM = 1:2

In addition to the points already made, remember that lots of little things matter to the fps rates in SH4. Disabling the event camera and volumetric fog helps the frame rate a lot. Playing with the sliders and making small changes in the settings menu also has a huge effect.

I run the game using a Geforce 7600GT video card , a P4 3.0 processor and 2 GIGS of RAM. I run TMO with everything maxed out, but with the event camera disabled. I also disable some windows background programs during game play. The game looks stunning, plays smooth, and I get between 37 and 45 fps on the exterior shots. In port, the fps drops to about 24.

I have a 7600GS w/500 mb, a P2.8 and 2 gigs ram. I have everything in the left selectable column unchecked and everything in the right column checked except vertical sync. My sliders are mostly in the middle. I get excellent fps, the game is smooth except thru the TDC, then it's slightly jerky. Game looks wonderful. I have event camera off.

I think the extra gig of ram I installed a year ago really helped.

Ok i will go for the extra gb of ram and use it in dual channel. at least the load times can be reduced ands the overall performance better.

i think that my FSB is 400 but it´s the maximun for the motherboard and memory type
(DDR400) i have to check the settings because all is in auto, and a lot of things can be tweaked manually, like wait times and others...

I would leave the bios settings in auto unless you love torture. 2G mem is considered the minimum standard for demanding gaming.

I use this program to squeeze an extra couple frames out of my system.

Yes.. true.. i tried the manual settings and i started to have blue screens at the boot , so i return to the auto settings.

i´m going to buy a 1 gb stick and set the ram to dual channel.

thanks

As you can see here, a proper 2600XT should be 3 times faster than 6600GT. If it doesn't, it means the video card is waiting for the cpu to send data. And since you already got the 2600XT (which is not bad), you could buy a 3200+ (I think you could get it really cheap (2nd hand)).

Also, 2gb of RAM makes a big difference on your gaming experience.

I play SH4 in 1600*1200 with a Barton 3200+, ATi 3850 and 2Gb of ram and I get over 50 FPS (settings on high, including Volumetric fog).
Even in 2048*1536 it manages to render 22 fps in port:

My FSB is 400 as well. I can not change it. It reboots the computer. However, I was able to flash my BIOS with a modded BIOS. I can now do a number of things. Mostly, optimizing my CPU and opening the video card appeture to 256mb. The vid card is 256MB. Anything lower and I get artifacts. Windows should detect a dual channel on you RAM if I'm not mistaken. I have DDR 400 for my 400 FSB motherboard. I also run the AGP set up on the vid card. System is old but I get 25+ FPS in SH4 with all the mod goodies. BTW, I have a 7800GS Nvidia card.
