Sounds like I'll have to try a demo then. I can deal with arcadey if there's a bunch of other elements I like, especially as a 'quick game' kind of thing.

Then you`ll probably like it, I guess. A couple of the guys I race in a rFactor league say they are having fun with it as a time killer now and then. Quick game there is for sure. I only tried it for about 30 minutes, as it was bundled with a graphics card i bought.

I am really "nazi" when it comes to racing games, they have to be hardcore. No driving aids and lots of settings to adjust.

What I CAN say about DIRT, is that it has nice graphics (the bloom is overdone, but ptobably moddable) and great crash modelling.

Some driving aids required here, as I have no wheel. Looking for a good but cheap one though, as there's stuff you just can't do right without one (sweepers, for instance).

Most of the good ones are cheap, since none of them are new.

My list of great sims:

GTR (FIA GT 2003 Season)
GTR2 (FIA GT 2003-2004)
rFactor (Nothing at all almost, but tons - literally - tons of free downloadable content, and the sim with the best mod groups)
GT Legends (You have that one, no?)
Race (2006 WTCC season + other classes)
Race 07 (2006-2007 WTCC, Minis, F3000, Caterhams, Radicals, Formula BMW)

Look for GTR2 (you will find this one very cheap), rFactor (around 40$), Race 07 (40$ on steam).

The best bet is rFactor, though. You will find almost any car for it, just have a look here:

http://www.rfactorcentral.com/index.cfm

And this site is great for keeping up with the mod news:

I have GTR 2 (It was cheaper to get GT Legends as part of a two-pack), GTL, and Race 07, a little early birthday present, arrived today. I generally prefer GTL to GTR as the tracks are sunnier and the cars are more to my taste. I've been hitting GTR harder lately, though.

Concur with Stabiz, though I haven't ordered it yet. Just got Mass Effect and Race 07, so I've got goodies to fiddle with for awhile.

Thanks! Downloading now. I ordered it too, as it only costs about 15$ on a web shop I found.

You wont be disappointed. SS was like remade Jagged Alliance to me (tho, JA still kicks everyone's butt and wipes the floor with them). And the destructable enviroment gives a whole new aspect to it; strong enemy stronghold in a room? No worries, go to the next one, shoot a hole into the wall and toss a nade in! Or if possible and spare time and some TNT, pull the whole building down.

"I'm not psychotic, I'm just passionate about my work."

"Flowers? Who would be sending me flowers?"

Yeah, Jagged Alliance 1 & 2 both kicked so much booty. Just soooo mannny things you could do RL that would work in the game, too, though with many of the same disadvantages you'd have if you tried it RL. And the dialogue!

As to Silent Storm, I like the sci-fi WWII idea. So many games these days are in the same setting we've seen 1,000 times, with no variation, no new spin...a little semi-steampunk '40's action sounds awesome (Vacum-tube punk?).

Yeah, the demo is awesome! Wohoo! Finally something refreshing. I spent a few hours on the first mission alone, and the map is tiny!:rotfl:This was alot of fun, thanks for the tip, Mikhayl.
