The only thing I recall was a warnng when d/l from the filefront site about a file's size but I can't remember if it was the second or third file. I looked at the file size of corresponding files from jimbuna (where I started) and another filefront location and opted for the larger file. After I selected a different filefront host, which had the larger file, I started over and the installation continued without further warning. At the outset I did remove the original game and start over, installing outside the Programs folder. I ran the basic game after patching and did not notice any problems. I ran a single mission after the GWX install and didn't notice a problem.
After reviewing my steps, I followed all that were specified for Vista. However, if the section on the GWX page pasted below applies, I did not do this, and though I have no idea what a MD5 Mate really does, if file size is the issue, it seems the test results I received during the install answer that. Quote:
At this point is the recommendation that I remove all and start over?

Those are the hash codes for the GWX 2.0 parts which you downloaded.
These codes allow you to check to see if the file that you downloaded is still in it's original (compiled) state. Whenever you download files via the internet, there is always a chance that the file will become corrupted and thus the MD5 hash codes will not match up. This is purely a check on the downloaded files and will not cause the installer error report you have posted above. The installer report which is part of GWX 2.0's installation process is created when the installer verifies certain aspects of your SH3 1.4b installation. In other words, it checks that certain files are the correct size based upon a 'clean/unmodded' version of the same file, also if any mods are still installed & activated (this can be individual mods or SH3Commander). The bottom line is that your supposedly 'clean/unmodded' installation which you want to add GWX 2 to, is not clean or unaltered. Now, as previously stated, you may be able to load & play a patrol or campaign BUT you will more than likely experience game problem (probably in your best ever patrol) later on. It's advisable to get GWX2 installed correctly.

Ok.. after some googling I found SH3 Commander2.7, and a link to a thread begun when it first came out. The thread admonishes us all to read the available info Quote: Originally Posted by CCIP Okay, hopefully it will come with GWX. Commander has an installer that will make its own folder in Program Files. It's separate from the other two.

There are several references to http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software throughout the threads but it seems the SH info is no longer there. A the location above (http://gwx.mysite.orange.co.uk) I find links to a single file (GWX_21.1_Cfg_4_SH3Cmdr3.0.7z). I've not found a zip file with readme text, mentioned above. ![]() ![]() |

The one you make reference to above is for SH3 Commander v3.0 or above. Sadly, JScones has withdrawn the link to d/l SH3 Commander only recently. I am sure someone will post you a link to the latest version soon after reading this post. I have not because I do not wish to become embroiled in recent events, but if you are still stuck in a day or so PM me....I will not see you stuck. ![]() |

Well, I'm obviously already embroiled (or am I just broiled?), so I doubt I can get myself into much more trouble.
Here is the latest version of Commander. http://files.filefront.com/SH3Cmdr31.../fileinfo.html

Steve, are you aware this is the basic programme exe file and will therefore not include the latest update upgrading it up to (3.1.3) :hmm:

What I do is install JSGME into the same folder (SH3 Commander)....this also means it is simple to activate other mods that are meant to compliment SH3 Commander eg: air markings, radio messages, dated events, music etc. Forget about the 3.1.3 reference...I have checked what Steve has given you and it is the latest update 3.1.3.184 ![]() Embroiled:

Back up your SH3 folder in C/myDocs and try, or alternatively back up the folder anyway and uninstall the original before installing the newer version. I really can't be certain but I think it may will overwrite. |

quote] !!PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTINUING!! If you are running SH3 Commander Release 3.0 then you can install this release straight over the top. If you are running an earlier release, then you must uninstall it before installing this release. You do not need to remove any residual files or folders. Prior to uninstalling your previous release, make sure that you have: 1. removed the SH3 Commander-based mods from Silent Hunter III by pressing the 'Rollback SH3' button in SH3 Commander 2. backed up any SH3 Commander files that you may have modified, including SH3Cmdr.ini.
Hope it helps |
