using normal torpedo's. some misses some success' and possibly a good counter attack or two. There is an instance of a Brit Sub sinking a submerged uboat in the atlantic with shots taken based solely on hydrophone bearings. the name escapes me at the moment but it will likely show up later in the thread from someone:hmm:? Also although the nineteen inch homer was too slow there were several German acoutstic's that would suffice for the task. within certain depth limits. But technical development was active on all side's it seems to me that had the typeXXI gone mainstream that the allies would have been compelled to make deep diving homers, which I feel weren't beyond there technical capability. a towed array wasnt that big a leap either. |
