You should have gotten up and walked around the room a lot. You could call it unrealistic, but then you weren't weightless the whole time.

Myself only got Chainmails and WW II us helmet :/ ( btw u get really stiff in the neck after wearing the helmet for 4 hrs straight....)

fyi i would say making the chainmail is almost in the class of the moon project :hmm:
what do you think?`( and the sheer fact that im nowadays running most sims i got on 100% total realism.. )

and yes i did assemble the chainmail myself ( complete set, copf, mail and leggings, took me about 40-60 hours in
total id guess.. going to get a roman legionaer uniform asap aswell)

I hate to lowjack this thread but I wana comment about world in conflict. I played the demo and the visuals are nice and perdy up close .. but you can't play the game up close .. you need to be zoomed out to have any chance of playing it. Looks good in screenshots but when you actually play the game it's a different story.

/end lowjack , return to nerdism

He told me that once, when he was in college, he went over to his friend's dorm room to see if he wanted to join him at the local bar for darts and beer. He said that when he walked into the room, he found his friend sitting next to another friend. They had multiple monitors and flight sticks with rudder pedals hooked up to a computer running one of the Microstoft Flight Simulators. When he asked if they wanted to go out for beer, they replied that they couldn't because they were flying from New York to Paris and it would take a few hours to get there. One guy was the pilot and the other was being the co-pilot and they also made the point that airline pilots shouldn't drink while flying.

I scoffed and told him I could top that. No one beats my nerdiness ! NOBODY !! (I have yet to find someone who's come close):rotfl: !

Back YEARS ago, when I first discovered the spaceflight simulator, ORBITER, I ended up with a week vacation durring a very inopportune time to go out with anyone or do anything. My girlfriend was working two jobs at the time, my friends were all either working or had moved away. I decided that I was going to fly to the Moon and back.... NERD style.

I started by pulling a mini-fridge and my small microwave into my room and filled it up with astronaut friendly food (mostly sandwitches and such... even those juice bags you poke the straws through). I then sectioned off my entire room with sheets and pretty much designed my own Lunar Module, and Lunar Lander control area/living space. I made it so I could swivel the monitor and keyboard around when I went in between the two (They were connected by a gap in the sheets).

I then spent three weeks before my vacation randomly inside my makeshift spacecraft/tent flying around the moon, figuring out where I wanted to land.. and pretty much assembling my entire flight plan.

I then flew from launch on top of a Saturn 5 rocket to the moon and back in real time flying the historical vehicles. The only time I left my improvised spacecraft was to use the facilities (of course) and I permitted myself a day to wander around my house when I landed on the moon's surface. But then, it was back into the spacecraft and back to Earth realtime again to splash down exactly on target near the US Navy ships waiting to pick me up.

All I can say is.. the experience made me SORE... VERY VERY VERY sore... and BOY did that shower feel good when I got back to Earth (God forbid if there were two of us on that mission together !) :rotfl:

My friend after hearing that declared me the "Nerd King".
I am KING of all Nerds !

I was just wondering if anyone here has done anything nerdy while playing a sim (that you'll admit to... hehehe) that can come close to beating me and taking my title ? :rotfl:
ROFL

I don't think anyone can beat that, unless the guy who is building the sub room goes on a Silent Hunter patrol using no time compression inside his sub room.

:rotfl: If my wife would let me build a "Sub Room" like his.... I would probably be YEARNING to do just that !! I'd even have bunks on the walls to sleep on. :rotfl:

The nerdiest thing I've ever done in a flight sim was being bombardier lead plane in a group of four Ju-88 in Il-2 1946. It was on the www.warbirdsofprey.org "Spits vs 109s" full realism server...
Before that I spent days working out a formula, and on the flight I calculated the bombsight release angle with a 1940's slide rule. =)

Juggling in zero gravity HAS to be tough !!! I havn't tried it yet !

Next time I fly the Space Shuttle in Orbiter, I'll give it a shot.

I keep a TI-83 close at hand whenever I play a subsim. Just for good measure, of course..... I also went to Lowes and purchased a red flourescent (gotta be eco-friendly y'know) to put in my computer room when I play.

I wore my Civil War uniform once while playing Sid Meyer's Gettysburg. It was right after I got back from my re-enactment though.

I breathe much slower and quiter in SHIII/IV if I'm under a DC attack.

Sometimes, while playing OFF, I look around my own shoulder to see if there is a jerry closing up from behind, then I remember....

It happens, when I play Team Fortress 2 (I know, not really a simulator but...) that I try to look around the corners of my screen. Also, sometimes I stop and just listens, to try to hear if there is a sentry nearby...

Oh yeah. I try and 'look around corners' a lot on action or other FPS games. Worse, on racing sims, I lean into the turns.
