Default A polite request to the moderators...

Seeing as we already have a U-Boat missions child forum, could we possibly have a U-Boat Missions mods workshop? It would save stock SH4 players from sifting through the various UBM only projects and perhaps save any confusion for newbies.

97 reads and no reply, comments, thoughts, support or rejections?... :hmm:

Come on mods, don't give me the silent treatment!

THis topic has been discussed before, and repeatedly. General concensus it, things stay as they are.

ETA: better a silent threatment than a "USE THE ^%^$#%&^%!!! SEARCH!!" treatment from some of our uuuh short-fused members And this is said in a humorous way, so keep your swords in your scabbard, people!

Yeah, I hate it when that happens. To be fair, I'm not playing at the moment but I checked back to see how the big bad mods were fairing in the hope that one day I can apply a finalized TMO, NSM, RSRD and one of the environmental mods to my 1.4 and just... play. I swear I spend more hours in JSGME than in SH4.

The other side of this is, what do you do with the mods that affect BOTH fleet boats and u-boats?

Instead of clearing things up, you just added another layer to confuse people.

Seems better to leave it as it is.

Just do an advanced search using [REL], limit it to the SH4Mod workshop and UBM child thread and you'll have a list of all released mods (providing the modders are following the convention used here- which if they haven't- yell at THEM for making things difficult to find. They can always ask a moderator to add the tag to the thread title.

Same thing if you want to see what's being worked on- search the same forums using [WIP]

Well, to be brutally honest, they're more often right than wrong when they give someone that treatment (I'm not referring to you)
I'm afraid all of those mods you mentioned have moved on to 1.5 (except NSM, but that one will surely follow as well). If I actually get the add-on it will be because of those outstanding mods and their creators; check lurker's incredible Operation Monsoon, for example. That mod alone is a HUGE temptation that might possibly tear down my objections to getting the add-on! Still, it won't change the fact that I'm bummed that Ubi didn't release a stand-alone patch for the game, but forces you to get the add-on.

How many mods do you know that affect U-Boats that are also compatible with stock 1.4? I'd say the mods that affect both could safely be put in the UBM section.

Now why would a mod that is a MAJOR overhaul of the fleet boats AND u-boats want to post solely in the UBM thread:hmm:? I know. Let's just delete the SH4 mod workshop and put everything in a UBM workshop as obviously no one must be playing with fleet boats anymore.

Honestly some of the UBM guys seem to think UBM should now be THE focus of the game. (biting tongue very hard)
Lessee there are HOW many fleet boats in the game compared to u-boats?

I gave people an EASY way to track the mods. So why not just use that instead of messing with the forum?

I think you got this wrong, swdw. Ryan, like me, is one of the select few (?) who don't have the add-on, are not interested in the add-on, and are still looking for 1.4-only mods. Quite the contrary of what you just stated

Ryan,
There are no U-Boats in 1.4. They come with the Addon & patch 1.5.
so NO mods affect U-Boats in 1.4.

lol, Rex... I know this. I was simply trying to say that mods that affect both U-Boats and US Fleet boats (ie 1.5) are never ALSO compatible with stock 1.4 and thus could be pooled together away from the stock 1.4 stuff.

Well, Operation: Monsoon is a battering ram capable of bringing down even the strongest gates, and I can feel my resistances lowered every time I see that thread. Add to that an assortment of goodies Ducimus has added to TMaru and some really sweet stuff I've seen being added to RFB, and soon this castle will have fallen!

One thing you have to understand Ryan is the add on also provided new things for the fleet boats. New textures, more stable game, some other odds and ends. I do not play the uboat either. I'm to busy working up the fleets with mods and making a day of it. Eventually, all the modders will have the add on if they do not already. The road for SH4 seems to be having the add on. As far as a different thread for the uboats only, this has been discussed and the decision to leave them melded together was made. Welcome to the big happy family of submersible lovers. Modders always create README's and post with [REL] uboat or fleet boat.

DrBeast....you are going to keep yourself from MO created by Lurker because of $10.00? That is 2 six packs of really cheap beer. Come on, buy the add on, enjoy the new material for uboats and fleets. Go get Lurkers FREE mod. You only go around once! Make it a good one!

Yeh, right!! I seen on the news the other day Americans complaining that it cost them more than $50 to fill up... it cost me more than £50 to fill up! (ie $100)

@AVGWarhawk -damn you, you're twisting my arm!
