Message Log / Subtitles MOD?

Is there a mod to change the Message log / Subtiles in the game? Like in this Vid ?



Also Is there a way to fix them in one position, like in vid?

I'm not sure exactly how they did that for the video, but this thread will explain how you can move the message box so it will start out wherever you want it (I was moving it to the bottom left in that thread, but by using different numbers as explained in the thread you could move it down/centered instead, like in the video) and make it transparent to start with and remove the sliders and stuff, which I believe would basically make it look like they did in the video:

I haven't tried it, but I'm sure you could also tweak some numbers in this same area of the menu_1024_768.ini file to reduce the size of the box to where it would only show one line at a time (instead of the 3 or 4 it usually shows) - that would have the effect of making each line show up in the same place like in the video (although I suspect that the effect in the video may just have been a result of judicious editing of the video and the timing of the messages being generated, and not actually a result of having messed with the size of the box at all). Of course, doing that would kinda screw up the display of any messages that are longer than one line, so I'm not sure I'd recommend doing that.

I don't have the 1.5 add-on yet, so I haven't been able to check it out or update the info in that thread for 1.5, but it should be pretty easy to find the right sections of the menu_1024_768.ini file and make the right changes even if (as I assume it did) the patch/add-on changed the section numbering in that file again.

There probably is, but I haven't been able to crack the code regarding how the program uses its fonts. There's a list of fonts near the beginning of the menu_1024_768.ini file, and there are lines in several of these sections about the message box that read "Font=__", and you would think that you could just change the number in that line to one of the other font numbers on the list near the beginning and it would change the font, BUT NO, for some reason that doesn't seem to work. Once as a joke for someone I managed to make the captain's log entries on the clipboard show up in super-size type by changing one of the font entries in the list at the beginning, but it also screwed up some other things that were using that same font in other parts of the game, so it wasn't a workable solution.

Maybe one of the real .ini file gurus has figured this out and could give you a hand with that one.
