Default birds in the rigging AGAIN

hello folks, tis me

I am running GWX 2.0 with 2x Nvidia Geforce 7600GT in SLI mode.

When I first had SH3, out the box, my very first post on here was because all the rigging on passing ships appeared like lines of little black squares or oblongs. From a certain distance you could interpret the effect to be birds in the rigging. Well, now I got 'em again.

They very satisfyingly disappeared when I put GWX 1.0 on - until I had a reformat. Someone on here advised me to set my AF to 8x and the AA to 4x, so I did that,
and again it sorted it, but then I did my yearly reformat of C:, and...
got birds in the rigging again, even though I have again set the AA and AF to those values. The game was installed on another drive, so I did not have to go through the biz of putting GWX on again, and it appears to be running fine, but it spoils the game to have lumpy graphics I am sure it can be fixed - but I don't know how...

if anyone else on here has an Nvidia card and uses custom settings for SH3, please might they tell me what works for them??

I will be back tomorrow, night night now. Thank you

Hey there. I also run GWX 2.0 with the Nvidia 7600 GT.

I think your problem is not having the latest drivers.
Everytime you reformat, it's giving you the stock drivers from the video card.

Use the Nvidia control panel to update the drivers, or try Nvidia's webpage.

I've never experienced that effect before on my card.

Phadreus, thank you for replying. I downloaded some new drivers immediately after the reformat, and would have thought they were the latest - maybe not though. The driver version is 6.14.11.6921.
Can I ask what your version is please??

Thank you

ps just checked - latest. Perhaps latest isn't best.

Do you run global settings or tweaked for SH3 I wonder?

I have uninstalled-reinstalled and no change. I notice, even on global settings that there is something 'odd' when I look at the sun. I see jagged darker bits going across it and on the edges, not tearing just darting across. Doesn't seem to happen anywhere else. Don't remember seeing that before. I have turned SLI off, and hyperthreading, but makes no difference to the 'birds'.

It appears as though its the shortened length of the atmosphere that is doing it (after reading the links).

If you go into your SHIII folder, you will see an icon labeled JGSME.

It is the mod enabler program.
Run that program and load up the 16 km atmosphere.

I run

16 KM Atmosphere
Merged Campaign
Enhanced Damage Effects
Integrated Orders

If you're running GWX 2.0 you shouldn't need to download anything extra.

That should clear it all up.
