I also made the jump to 1.5 and it was not because I was looking forward to it, or because I was interested in the u-boat campaign (SH3 serves that purpose) it was because the modders who make the game what it really was meant to be have begun the migration to 1.5 and I wanted to go with them.

Having said that though, I was also impressed with the number of fixes and improvements that had been included for those ten bucks! The add-on is worth every penny and I am enjoying myself much more because of it. Purchased and downloaded it through subsim link and very happy that I did.

If you have yet to upgrade, I can with good conscience, recommend that you do so.

Yeah I Bought the expansion just for the hell of it a few weeks ago even though I'm not really into the game as much as I used to and I have to say it was worth it, simply for the awesome flak guns on the german subs.
