I have stock 1.4 and the oil was re-appearing. I fixed it so the burning oil pool only appeared once, but left the none burning oil as it was re-appearing, but Kriller says that it doesn't work for him. Odd.

Must be a 1.5-related problem. I too run 1.4 and never noticed this behavior (though I stumbled upon other weird side-effects after I upgraded my rig...see the Pacific Environment thread for details).

Whoops...sorry, didn't notice that. That's what you get when you're speed-reading forums in the midst of an experiment! :p

The special effects worked with the 1.4 patch, but the oil-leaks did appear and disappear, I think it was the solution Dave and Is4htl came to, because they couldn't solve the issue with the tool that existed at that time.

The appearing and disappearing happens now on my 1.5 installation, so if the file you send to me Nisgeis works with 1.4 (can you confirm that Dr. Beast?), then my guess would be it have something to do with the way the U-boat missions handles the particles / materials.dat?

It seems we are close to a solution, thanks for working on it!

EDIT...Or Maybe we need to make two versions, one for the 1.4 patch and one for the U-boat missions?

The version I sent you only has one of the oil patches fixed, as I wasn't sure exactly what you wanted it to do.

When a ship sinks, there are 4 or so oil patches, one of which is on fire. The fix I sent you had the normal oil patches re-appearing, but the one oil patch on fire (the one that I made float up a bit) now only appears once.

I might be going mad though.

See, that's why I never sign up as a tester: confirmation or not will have to wait until tomorrow, as I don't have internet at home

Sorry dr. beast, but I don't have the game in a 1.4 state, so I thought it would be nice if we could confirm that Nisgeis is working in the right direction.

Will take a look at this again later when I get home
