Australia has had quite a few white farmers come here to resettle after leaving Zimbabwe (quite a few black ones as well!) These were people who are highly skilled and trained and make an important part of an economy. The vast majority have said that they will not return, even if the government changed and they were invited back.

That is a great loss for Zimbabwe, one that will set them back many years.

our health minister advocates African beetroot for AIDS...

our president in waiting (Jacob Zuma) has already had a rape charge laid against him(the woman was HIV but he took a shower so thats ok), and now has corruption charges against him, but it will make no difference to the average black person so long as he is in power

We have power outages because the coal being supplied to our power stations has been handed over to various BEE (Black economic empowerment) which cannot get the deliveries right.(the head of one of these companies was an interior decorator:rotfl

we had surplus energy withthe previous goverment, but the new gov. decided to fire/retrench all white people (some with 30 yrs experience in the industry)and replace then with inexperienced blacks.-no power.

Our energy minister tols goverment to warn off foreign investment for the next three years.

Land seizure is not called that , although farmers are forced to sell their land to the goverment(at what is deemed a fair price.These farms(90%) which are then run by the"workers' fall into dissarray.(but not before the newly appointerd black farmer had bought himself a mercedes and a rolex)

We have one of the highest(if not the highest)incidents of rape in the world.

Crime is rife and rampant, so much so that concerned citizens form neighbourhoos watches, and patrol the streets at night,supplementing the police force/

we had an elite police unit, with ready access to judges etc, and they were trackin down high profile corruption etc.The\is was disbanded by the ANC after too many of their members were nailed.

This country is being sunk by ineptitude, and we will be alonside Zim in a decade of two,then i think we should just amalgamate the two countries where we can share the nothing.

Seems Mugabe isnt going anywhere.
There should be a country created for the European Africans, they have that right.

Why shouldnt civilized people that have lived for centuries in africa have the right to live in peace and prosperity? Most of those blacks in South Africa moved there after there was something to move to.

The goverments in Southern Africa and most of the population arent very well educated, im not talking about all blacks in the world.

I don't think he's saying that blacks aren't civilized, but rather that a group of people who are (ie not vampires or something) should have rights, too.

I'm certainly not intending to take any side here but there is a lot of support worldwide which believes that the blacks are only taking back what was originally taken from their ancestors anyway.

Well, that sort of logic is certainly common, but it leaves its adherents pretty wide open. It's not limited to Africa, either, but let's stick with that for this discussion.

On one level, remember that 'black' is far from a monolithic, unified grouping. In this case, let's say the Bantu are legitimately taking back the land that was theirs when the whites came. One hopes they will be equally happy when asked to give it back to the Bushmen, from whom they themselves took it a millenium ago.

On another level, one could make the case that the 'property' has been rather improved. I rather doubt that even the most ardent nationalist would want it back the way that the colonialists got it. Pastoral, beautiful and undisturbed it may have been, but from what I have seen, what is desired is not just the pristine land but also the things built on it and done with it. I doubt Mugabe would want to move into a grass hut, for instance, which was the status quo before the whites arrived. The claim, in other words, includes considerable 'interest' which is generally ignored when discussing the debt.

Would 'black Africa' (whatever in H that is) have brought itself to the state left by the various colonial powers? Maybe, but the evidence to date rests with decay, destruction and brutality. Africa is full of countries that were once prosperous and self-supporting but are now front-page disaster zones.

Don't get me wrong. Apartheid was a blight on the human soul, but the reality is that for every Archbishop Tutu or Nelson Mandela, there are a dozen Idi Amins and Robert Mugabes. The colonial powers were racist, short-sighted and often cruel, but their efforts were often most constructive. Demagoguery is much easier - and more common - than constructive effort. At some stage of the game, the 'oppressed' have to start spending their energy solving their problems rather than blaming others for them.

A run for it, maybe. As to his loot, you'd have to ask the Swiss, I suspect. One could take that sort of person (from whatever country), drop them stark naked into Bern or the Caymen Islands or Panama or any of the other banking havens and by night's end they'd be wearing silk in the finest hotel in town. If we are talking about Western and Northern Cape areas these claims have no foundation, the Europeans have as much right to those lands as anyone.
We are talking about so massive area that dividing part of it shouldnt be a problem.
South Africa isnt a viable nation, as seen in the mass exodus of the European Africans.
Mass killings of white farmers, some 2000 murdered.

It not apatheid then, no one can suppress the other if they live in their own countries.
Could actually improve relations.
This colonialist self-loathing has to stop some time, the Africans have had genocides, enslavement and poverty even without Europeans.
