Wow

I wonder if a submerged submarine was ever hit by a sinking hulk. Since the sub would probably not survive data might be a bit scarce.
Hi!

Yes, the hulks are modeled on their way down. I don't know if a sub was ever hit by a hulk going down, but a sub or two might have been too close to a merchant ship filled with explosives when the merchant detonated - something on the order of a 7-8 kiloton nuclear detonation).

I was completely caught off guard when those sunken ship pieces hit my ship and made some realy scary sounds. I was soo happy that small merchant didn't actually hit me. I have a 5.1 surround elite X-Fi pro sound system which is bonus to the enviromental sounds. That big bang above me then the ship wailing and then screeching sounds.. Yup I have to respect those captains out there who may have really been there.

I was dragged once by a carrier.
I've been playing a LAN game with a friend of mine.
There was heavy fog and i couldn't even see my bow, any way to make it a short story, my friend hit a carrier but it didn't seem to be sinking so a decided to finish it of but i had only 2 stern torps left so i decided to pass underneath it position myself and shoot. WRONG MOVE
She actually started sinking and while i was underneath she hit me and dragged me
about 150m deep before I could free myself.

Actually, the highest scoring submarine ace ever, World War 1 Germany's Lothar von Arnauld de la Periere, reported at one time having a sinking merchant land on top of his boat and drag it down. He said that they escaped at all was pure luck.

Quote:
During his war time career, he fired only four torpedoes (one miss) and sank his victims (194 ships totalling 454,000 tons) always strictly according to prize rules with his boat's 88 mm deck gun. His patrol performance was outstanding: in April/May 1916 he sank 23 ships, totalling 68,000 tons on a five week patrol and in July/August 1916 in four weeks he sank 54 ships, totalling 91,150 tons.
I talked to U-boat.net's proprieter years ago and I thought he had fixed that. According to Edwin Gray's U-boat War: 1914-1918 la Perriere fired a lot more than four torpedoes during his career. It was on the four-week, 54-ship, 91,150-ton patrol that he only fired four. Still a major accomplishment, but not quite the same thing. Also, he fired over 900 rounds from his deck gun, so he has to have docked somewhere several times, because there's no way he could carry that many.
