hi,
i'm investigating the missing eyeball problem and this is what i've got so far: eyes are not missing but stuck on the wrong position inside the head. editing marine.dat allows to change position (z-axis) of the eyeballs. but this does not solve the problem as not all crew members always have missing eyes at the same time. files that could be causing the problem are: data/library/characters/marine.dat data/shaders/ - too much to list all.. maybe someone with real knowledge could take a look. for me on my ATI card HD3870 eyes are only missing on the conning deck, but that all the time. it would be helpful for further investigation if all of you with the missing eyes issue could list which graphics card you have and when the problem does occur. |

GeForce 8800 GTS 512 (SLI or dual conf) with Forceware version 169.25. Eyes of the crew disappear all the time, but I can't say exactly when. Thanks for your effort I hope you can nail this one down.

When it happens you can clip off the crew's faces with the free camera and see the eyes and teeth inside the head. The eyes normally look at the camera, but when they go into freaky mode, they no longer follow the camera.

My guys' eyes dissappear in two different ways. Both bored into their skulls and also in their right place but with a skin tone texture instead of the real eye texture. Oh and this happens to both my watch crew, conning tower and command room crew... |

I always get it after being in time compression mode for any length of time. I normally swap a crewmember about in the management screen to cure that. Once you do that, they go back to normal. It's probably the same type of animation issue as the dive planes not working properly if you dive or surface whilst in TC. Which means it could be a coding issue? My 2p Mike.

I noticed this very rarely on my old rig (Radeon X1650 Pro, Omega 4.8.442 drivers). Now it's there pretty much every time I load up the game in Single Mission to test my new rig's performance (HD3650 on the same drivers). Maybe it's an AA/AF issue...? I have upped both from AAx2 AFx4 on my old junk bucket to AAx4 AFx8 on the new rig. :hmm:

Something just piqued my interest...I re-read the posts, and I noticed you mentioned Marines.dat. As it happens, I'm using an Officer Insignia and Cap mod by Captain Cox, adapted for patch 1.3/1.4, which has a modified Marines.dat file. I don't have the add-on.

there is no difference in using the stock
or edited marines.dat, eyes are still missing. ..this never happened in SH3, so it must be some of the new stuff they added to the engine.. |

I have the missing eyes also and i noticed before that it always happens when comming out of time compression .
I always degradet TC step by step till 1...waited a wile and than moved to the bridge or commandroom . then they had eyes ..next time not . ![]() Been playing till a few minutes ago and tried another aproche and hey ...i saw more succesfull switches (with eyes) from stations after time compression (i use max 512 /mostly 64 and 128 and stay at 1 when the enemy is nearby) . What i dit was : when in time compression and on the map ..DON'T DEGRATE TC..and ALWAYS hit the COMMANDROOM first and then go to the bridge (Don't go from the map to the bridge !). It worked most of the times . Maybe i was just lucky today ...i don't know ...try it captains and let's see ..:rotfl:yeah ...LET'S SEE ![]() greetz all ![]()
