I had a Malamute or aka artic wolf years ago. REX was his name and a one master dog if you can call them that? He was my best friend. Mine never barked but howled at night sometimes. He had blueish eyes I couldn't resist his eyes when he was a pup. My grandfather was the only ousider that could get closed to him without him rippen someones face off. Oh ya Rex loved the snow.:p Beautyful animal Venatore.

Ven you lucky devil! I've always wanted a dog like that but living here in Florida I wouldn't want it to suffer in the heat & humidity... Maybe if I can convince my wife to move to Alaska I'll get one for sure

The Malamute is one of the most adaptable dogs alive, able to live in extreme hot and cold conditions, but prefer cold for very obvious reasons. I live in Brisbane, which at times the humidity hovers around 85% - 95% with a combined temp of around 28-38 degrees. I have to remain very watchful of tic's, snakes and the good old cain-toads.

Since having our girl we have lived in extreme cold yucky snow conditions and now reside in Brisbane, Montana loves the Army lifestyle, a new backyard every three years or so. we head on our walks/runs everyday of about 5km, she is an ex-sled Malamute so she knows what power is all about.

She is my official SHIII mascot;

You don't have to shave her when it gets too hot do you? I imagine she would shed a lot if you didn't. Those are gorgeous shots of her Ven, looks like a very loyal companion!

A Dog's Prayer

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footsteps fall upon my waiting ear.

When it is cold and wet, please take me inside, for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements. And I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth.

Though had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land, for you are my god and I am your devoted worshiper.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food, that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life should your life be in danger.

And, beloved master, should the great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest - and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.

Wow, I'm speechless. Thanks a lot. That's really nice. He was a great dog. It was really weird that first night he was gone, not jumping on the bed and sleeping under the blanket, not barking when I opened the door, not sitting by me when I was on the computer. That's why this whole thing has been some painful for me, whereever I went, he usually followed.
