Personally, given the prices I saw back in early January, the 8800GT was the winner, hands down. Very little performance difference between the two cards, but a big price difference. And my 8800GT has had no heat issues at all - single slot form factor seems to be just fine. Mine only has 512MB RAM - of course, the NVidia drivers will use some of my 4GB system RAM as well, if needed (the graphics system actually "sees" it has over 1.5GB available on my machine, 512MB dedicated on the card itself, plus shared system RAM as needed).
Agreed... the differences are minimal for the output of $$$ I had the same choice when buying my card.. the standard GT or the GTX and for the dollar difference the performance difference was not comparible. And as many others have said, regardless of the card you get your SH4 will be running like clockwork

Yes guys, you are right on the price difference between GT and GTS. Howewer, Panzer spoke of the 1GB GT :hmm:, so i guess the price must be different from the classical one ..

Running ywo of the 8800 GTS's in SLI mode, and they don't even break a sweat with SH4, or the Battle of Britain II. The can have 1400 aircraft in the air during a mission spread out over 800 nm.

Default GT vs GTS

I don't think NVIDIA released 1Gb GT card... GT is 512mb. And this is more then enoph for SH4, GT rocks !! Check the card specs again and check nvidia.com.

GTS/512mb is the "old" fellow (a previous GTS fix) and is better CPU then GT for bigger screens and FPS eating games. If you have the money, get the GTS.

Default Well

8800GTS 512 is my recommendation and preferably a manufacturer that offers a trade up/ step up program when the new 9800's come out at the end of this month/early april.
