Here are some ways to improve your gameplay and graphics.

Also get this to improve your water and sky textures. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=131035

Of course its up to you, you can check out the mods section and find stuff that suites you.

GWX itself is fantastic, its 500% better than just playing the vanilla SH3.
