To be honest I can't see anyone learning the game efficiently if they don't read the manual, except if you maybe played SC or 688 before DW or have some knowledge about modern naval platforms and tactics. I didn't find the manual hard to understand and comprehend.
With that said, the TACMAN mentioned by Janus makes for some good reading and goes into the tactical side of the game a bit more than the manual - which most of the time just tells you how to push a button and not WHY you should. |

Also, Molon Labe made an ASW tutorial mission on TMA (subbased). There is a very good walkthrough in .doc format in the zip. Naturally you can find it on www.subguru.com , but there is a thread about it somewhere here too.

![]() I should mention though that the tutorial mission/walkthrough will be of limited use to someone who has not read the manual and become familiar with basic ship station functions.

You can also meet up with someone online who can design a training mission for the two of you and you talk through Skype. That's how I trained one of my friends. He did read the manual but I helped him through it a bit with some simple multiplay missions.

Don't forget to download the LWAMI mod. To put it simply, it's the greay wolves of dangerous waters.
