I havent seen this since ive been playing GWX2.0 but in the first GWX version i saw alot of DD task forces operating off the coast of Norway from 39-about 43??????

The most logical reason is that they are out there to escort/protect the shipping lanes between Norway-Northern Europe and England and/or for Anti-Submarine patrols since pretty much all uboats had to head pass Norway until the bases in France opened up.

For those Captains that arent looking for a fight with 5 DDs just simply avoid them, mark them on ur maps and avoid that area. But for those Brave or Crazy Captains like myself, Go after them, Sink them and send them to the bottom of the North Sea. Like i always say THE ONLY GOOD DD IS A DEAD ONE
My best advice for those thinkng about attacking them is to get well ahead of them, go to PD depth and wait for them to be infront of them, do a "broadside" thats my best tactic. and always have an escape plan, cause ur dealing with 5-6 DDs who make it a living trying to sink uboats.

I had a fight with five destroyers west of Gibralter a while back before my current career. I sank the lot!

....but I was using stock SH3. Dont know if I would try it with GWX.... the crew are likely to put a sack over my head
and fire me out of tube one!!! :rotfl:

Yeah going after 5 DDs using Stock SH3 is good practice, but to do that with GWX2.0, hmmmm ur crew would prolly fire u out of a tube, hahaha

What i like to do for practice and still use GWX2.0 is use the mission editor and make a mission just like a real life patrol, but u can dumb down the crews of the DDs, it also a great way to pratice and learn new/better ways at attacking convoys and DDs and Taskforces.

The RN mined German waters quite a bit in the early stages of the war
Did some later too but RAF and subs also pitched in
