Default TM1.7.6 + ROW + RSRDC...Another Day, Another Mod Order Change....?

Okay, here goes, following the new ROW addition file and Krillers advice and notwithstanding the final release of Duci's seminal TM 1.7.6, I have cleared all old save campaign files and reinstalled my mods as follows :

ROW #1 thru #9 Excluding the ROW Sky & Ocean Controls as its incorporated into the new addon file ;

Foofighters sub skins ;

Warships retextured v1.3 ;

Trigger Maru v1.7.6 ;

Trigger Maru Sound ;

Trigger Maru GFX - ROW - v5 ;

Duci's Sub Interior Fix file ;

RSRDC P2 TM v221 ;

and finally ROW #10 - Addon for Reflections on the Water.

Please, does this sound right, I know that I will get told, "go play it and see" but even though it all seems to work, I don't know if I am missing some graphical goodies because I have the mods in the wrong order, and as Duci has removed himself from the forum, I can't ask specifics about what his TM GFX ROW file includes as far as original ROW files, apart from the fact they overwrite a lot of ROW stuff....

Bumpage. I'm just getting back into SHIV after several months and the number of must have mods makes my brain ache.

A definitive install order would be much appreciated.

Yes that's the way I would install the mods. the only problem I have noticed in the order of the mods, is if you are using RFB on top of ROW and want to have the new Sun halo from ROW, the RFB will overwrite it with a smaller sun with no sun flair.

BTW I got the installation order after reading carefully in this thread:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=115258

That RSWD should be after TM.

Kriller, last night I loaded ROW, RFB and then the RSRD files. The sun is a bit smaller as a result of RFB but the halo and flair is still present if you are using the ROW files for the halo and flair. I ran the game for over an hours with no ill effects.

Nice kriller

To be honest, sometimes we have to take it upon oursleves to learn this stuff better, mod combinations, installing updates, etc. It is the least we can do for modders here, the hard work is on their end, if it takes us a couple of times to get the order right in JSGME, so be it.

Yes, thats it exactly RDP. I feel like a pain asking, but I want to make sure that I can show my appreciation of all the modders hard work by actually getting it to run as they meant it! My point is, yes it runs, but how do I know that it is running as it should be, ie. have I written over a file that was later/better than the other, therefore missing some graphical goodness that the modder worked damned hard to work for the enjoyment of us all.. etc etc...rant complete.

That's the beauty of JSGME as well, it makes life much easier doing this stuff. When I first started here a few years ago, I did much of it manually

So you live and learn

Default ROW choices

Archie,
I'm curious as to your ROW install choices. I've never run ROW

Do you have a high-end res machine? And what level do you set
your in-game graphics?

thanks

I run a core 2 e6600, 4096 RAM with an Nvidia 8800 Ultra card, Vista Ultimate, on a Dell 24" monitor, have no problems running all the high res ROW stuff at all, everything on high mate.

do you have to do any extra cooling?

So what parts of ROW do you run?

No, no extra cooling mate, she runs fine, the only thing I hope to do in the near future is upgrade the CPU from the dual core to a quad core, and as Vista only recognises 3 Mb of RAM, I'm thinking of installing the 64 bit version of Vista Ultimate to take advantage of the full 4 Gig of RAM goodness I have, but im still unconvinced of 64bit and games, so we will see.

I run ROW as per Krillers advice :

ROW Main Load Screen
ROW Realistic Camera with sway v2d
ROW Sub Reflections and Roll Pitch Mod v5 (heavily modified as per Trigger Maru FAQ #19)
ROW Object Reflections and Searchlights v5b
ROW High Res Seafoam
ROW Textures with Sun Halo Camera Flair v5
ROW Special Effects with Stock Zones v5b
ROW New Clouds from Kriller
ROW Sound Effects v8

The rest of my mods are as per the first post (TM 1.7.6 , RSRDC etc) I think that a couple of the ROW mods are included in TM 1.7.6 but i'm not sure which so I left them in as the newer TM files overwrite them anyway.

and at the very end of the JSGME list, the new ROW addon file #10.

Hope that helps mate!.

This is my current JSGME setup. I know that some of the ROW mods are redundant (Kriller2 advises that the latest ROW Addon file was included in Trigger Maru 1.7.6 without anyone knowing for example, but I left it in as it can't hurt as it is replacing the TM files with exactly the same ones, and the ROW Camera with realistic sway was also included in TM). This may be of some help to people.

Archie,

I have a feeling that REL_Interior_Sub_Fixes is incorporated into TM 1.7.6?

Ducimus is not around to comment on this and I will have to go back to check on the update log.

As I always load TM first, in fact I loaded them in order 1-2-3 and tried loading the various ROW files, I found only a couple that actually loaded without wanting to overwrite TM files.

I will post my JSGME load screen tonight. I did add Kriller2's Addon at the very end and let that overwrite the scene.dat and 6-7 other files from the TM graphics pack.

I suppose one would or could just pull the TM graphics and load all the pertinent and up to date ROW files plus Kriller2's Addon and just go with that.

OK, pretty much done, time to go back on patrol tonight! The Malakar Straits await...I hope I have some torpedoes that actually work on board!

I was practicing last night and I shot a full loadout....60% were bad, 1st one out was a circle runner...the rest just crushed the pistol and sank to the depths.....

Love this sim!
