Default GWX 2.0

Have some questions about GWX 2.0. 1) Do German airplanes attack convoys? 2) Are there any dog fights with the airplanes ?

1) Yes. Sometimes this happens after you send a contact report.

2) I have observed aircraft on opposing sides shooting at and chasing each other in testing. Though we will not purposefully script any 'dogfights.'

Funniest dogfight I've see was in the Med when I observed a Stuka being persued and finally shot down by a Sunderland that was pretty nimble and doing some very interesting manovuring to follow the Stuka!

"Dogfights" were even in stock game, but during limitations of an engine not very realistic.
I wonder why German aviation strikes so often around British Isles? Every time (if not every, than VERY often), I am sinking a ship (or spotting convoy) in Western Approaches or near Cardiff, there are 4-5 Ju-88 or even FW-200 in the air. I believe british aicrafts should arrive first. It's 1941. If german u-boats have so strong air support in reality... But I learned from Doenitz book, that there were a lack of recon and other aviation for the navy. This also is not good, 'cause, for example, one Junkers throw a bomb near my boat, and other began to attack him (!). If there will be more rare axis air-strikes.. And more often Allied air support... It will be better IMO. Maybe it's possible "to call" british fighters when german bombers approach?

The one air engagement I'm really looking forward to seeing is that of a Condor being shot down by an Allied fighter

The only German planes I encounter, show up around home bases somehow.

I wish they would lend me a hand to clear some pesty Engländer of my tail now and then!

Default Vielen Dank, mit der Luftwaffe

Once on patrol I was caught on the surface by an attacking aircraft. To my surprise another aircraft showed up and downed the attacking aircraft in a great explosion and ball of fire,

Hi, welcome to Subsim.

Try patrolling the Black Sea or Med.

There's plenty of friendly planes about and they will even respond when you send a contact report.

Hmm, been around Englands coast for a while now. I did not encounter any German aircraft yet but then I don't actually look for them. Usually, when I see any aircraft we dive. Is there a fast way to identify them as friendly?

That's maybe the trick. With grey icons you can't identify aircrafts, for sure. But using freecam it's pretty easy (>< keys). Not for cheating, but for testing my favourite mod more deepely. I saw a very hard air attacks on harbors - Cardiff for example. Very impressive - flak gun flashes in the air, sound of fire, bombs falling, alarm sounds... It's war...

Should show on map as friendly?
They don't try to keel you?

I thought with GWX units are always grey -- or does this not apply to aircrafts? the British ones are grey at least.

If they dive after me I know they weren't ours. But I'm not waiting to find out but usually dive once we see any planes...

All aircraft contacts should be grey in GWX. Without the freecam there shouldn't be any quick way of determining friend or foe. Technically, you shouldn't hang around long enough to find out.
