Can't say I've seen this before, but I've noticed since running GWX 2 that, now and then, when I torpedo a ship there is a steady stream of bubbles exiting the torpedoed area.
Looks pretty kewl. ![]() |

Just don't go crashing into any of them whales. Once annoyed it is rumoured they turn on the nrearest merchant and bite a huge chunk out of the bow

yes that is one thing that annoys me with SH2 and 3....the screws of ships or electirc torpedos create bubles....maybe it looks nice, but its not realistic.

well as it says, the pressure must drop till the water becomes steam....the propeller must turn at very high speed and the angles of the propeller must be high enough to cause the water to become steam..... and it also says...if cavitation happens the screws get damaged by it, and can break....
maybe this can happen to electric eels but im not sure if their prop turns fast enough. |

People Should remember this quote from 688I Hunter/Killer
"conn, sonar: cavitating"

usually naval engineers are taught to avoid surfaces that might cavitate.
![]() but if you look at all the propellers in SH3... they "cavitate", from merchants to battleships and from the IID to a Falke.

Look at this picture...you can see its turning very fast... From the german Wikipedia: "Kavitation verursacht überdies Vibrationen, die den Antrieb eines Bootes oder Schiffes beschädigen, ja sogar zerstören können." (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verdr%C...er_und_Gleiter) Translation should be like this : "Cavitation also leads to vibrations, that damage the engine of a ship or boat, or even destroy it." Also, most propellers are created not to cause cavitation. Last edited by Gezur(Arbeit); 03-01-08 at 03:36 AM. |
