I'm not sure what the problem is, as I haven't changed/added/modded anything lately. But the last two patrols I've been on have had a non-stop whistling wind. Rain or shine. Calm or rough weather. Surface or submerged. It doesn't matter; the wind just keeps whistling.
Including at the hydrophone station, where usually every extraneous sound effect is cancelled. Any ideas as to what the heck is going on, and how to stop it? |

Danke! I'll give it a shot (actually already tried; hardware accel didn't seem to do anything, but maybe I have to exit and reload. I'll try that next)

the wind noise was the first thing that i replace in my gw install, too whistling for my taste.

What gets rid of the whistling wind inside the sub for me is when I switch to the conning tower or external camera view and then back into the control room again.
There's something with the new GWX that makes it get stuck. I never had the problem before I installed GWX 2.0. If that doesn't work, I just save, exit, and reload and it usually goes away.

I suspect that this issue is very hardware/software/configuration dependent. I doubt there is a single solution, but rather a number which may work.

I found (still on GWX 1.03) that dropping it down one notch didn't solve the problem 100%, but reduced its occuring to very infrequent.
Another thing which seemed to have helped is always pausing the game in the map view before flipping to the Windows desk top and back. It seems more likely to happen if you flip to Windows while in the 3D. At least for me ...

I never had the problem with any prior version of GWX and I've used GWX since the day it was first put out. It didn't start for me till 2.0 was put in. The sound is easy to get rid of for me and it doesn't impact my game for me at all. So now I can go look at that excelent job they did with Heligo*BOOM !!!*
