I voted Black Swan because of the shortage of choice, but as TJ quite rightly states.....fear whatever it is, if it is armed with the hedgehog

I think that the worst bastard is that who sink you just when you get nice tonnage rating in one mission(two C2Cargo, one T3tanker and one small merchant).
Destroyer is worst i think(i don´t like to see them in my periscope), fully featured sub killer machine.:hmm:

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Cmdr. Walker one of the most famous of the hunter/killer groups leaders did most of his operations from a Black Swan.

Haven't gotten too late into the war yet, so for the moment it's those frikkin' ASW trawlers and Armed Trawlers who seem to have some kind of clairvoyance as they circle overhead. Never dropping D/Cs accurately but not leaving me alone!!

Of course, the participants of Zerstorerfest 1940 rank pretty high on my list of 'torpedo at nearest opportunity'.

Nailed a Black Swan in the Med just this weekend. Came charging straight at me, so I put an electric eel a metre under his keel and he sank quickly - plowing his own bow under rapidly as it flooded We (U-371, type VIIC) went on to sink the Ore Carrier it had been escorting too

Of course, there was a rear guard Black Swan too, but as we went deep and silent running, he just ran off fast to the east (dropped some charges, but they were nowhere near us). No point hanging around I guess, with his charge and his fellow escort already sunk.

I find the escorts to be a bit slow on the uptake in '41 in the Med. In the past two patrols, we've sunk a Town class, a Hunt III, and now a Black Swan (also took out a Dido and a Southampton, but these cruisers were unescorted).

Good description on the "sloops" MM

Because I edit my RND file and have the Egret, Grimsby and Bittern classes (forerunner to the Black Swan) I see more of these in the early years.
As was said these were made to escort convoys from base to base without refueling so were the primary early escort along with trawlers and old DDs like the V&W which were short legged and required running off to get fuel.
The A&B added by GWX2 were A-H class DDs that were worn out had their guns and torpedoes reduced and AS equipment upped as well as boilers removed reducing speed and increasing fuel capacity and range.
The corvettes annoy me as they are hard to hit but the sloops seem to be the deadlier AS ships at least to me.
