Milage question

Ok on the paper map that comes with the game the "SCALE OF MILES" shows 0 to 300 to be 1" so is 1/2" 150 miles? I'm tring to see how to get into the shipping lanes off of japan,the Yellow sea and the South china sea...I saw in another post someone said to use the mission editor to find them well I have no idea how to use it....
