In my leading post I really did think Jean Ruth hay aka Beverly was the GI Jive disc jockey that we ( the ones that listen to the GI Jive folder ) listen to. I guess the main reason I thought this is that this paragraph near the end of her article states....Quote: After being featured in Time and Life magazines in 1942, she was offered a job in Hollywood at a CBS affiliate. Armed Forces Radio Service broadcast her show overseas after America entered the war, along with a shorter program of hers called "GI Jive." Unquote.
I was listening to the "GI Jive" folder ( copied to Windows Media Player from SH4 as I can hear it much better ) while cruising subsim.com when all of a sudden I heard her say...."Hi Guys this is GI Jill"....I thought this isn't right it's supposed to be Beverly. I notified Rockin Robbins and the search began ( I think there was smoke coming out of both mine and Rockin Robbins computer as we were both burning up the web trying to find out all the goods on these two ladies. So far as RR and I know "GI Jill" ( Martha Wilkerson ) is the DJ of fred8615 music folder "GI Jive". Beverly (Jean Ruth Hay ) had a show for the service men and women of WWII and was broadcast on a CBS affiliate station KNX Los Angeles which at the time was used by AFRS 1942. So I think she may have started before GI Jill and maybe ( just maybe ![]() Another thing about "Beverly" is a movie was made of her in 1943 called "Reveille with Beverly" staring "Ann Miller" playing the roll of Jean Hay. Also "Frank Sinatra" got his start here as his first movie roll. He was making $100.00 per week at some nightclub before the movie started his and Ann Miller's career. I sincerely respect what Rockin Robbins has done here as I thank him very much. ![]()

G.I. Jive was originally hosted by a man. The first episodes in my AFRS mod are with him. In June of 1943 G.I. Jill took over the hosting duties. IIRCC, after the war, one, if not two other women played the part of Jill eventually, before the program was finally ended in the '50s or '60s.

Yep, I think his name was "Jack briggs". Sorry Fred for the folder that I have is just labeled "GI Jive" and has 221 MP3's or 11.8 hours long ( 82.2 MB ) and are strictly DJ'ed by 'GI Jill' ( Martha Wilkerson" ) so in my old age memory I guess I downloaded GI Jive from http://sh.xset.co.uk/ as among others it is an album by itself with no events, just music. I'm not sure just whose site that is but that's where I probably got GI Jive. Your AFRS Mod fred8615 has got to be just as good if not better so you still get a lot of credit as far as I'm concerned. ![]() Here is another list of AFRS which has "Jack Briggs" with episode # 10E 1943 then "Beverly" with episode #10F. There are several ladies doing the DJ work through out this list but "GI Jill" ( Martha Wilkerson ) has got the vote, man shes all over the page. ![]() http://spartaotr.com/Research-Logs/S...criptions.html

Here is a website, the one that cracked the case wide open with an actual Jean Ruth Hay recording. http://www.digitaldeliftp.com/LookAr...spot_afrts.htm It also sports a picture of her from 1999, five years before her death.
![]() Why do I have trouble believing that this one is real? Sure would love to track down some of her radio programs!
