Welcome to the world of SH4, be patient with the game, it is a different experience than SH3 ( it should be, it is a different theatre\game ), it's going to be a great one, it already is

Play stock 1.4 for a bit then check out some of the great mods in the 1.4 compatability thread

Welcome to SH4. You might want to visit the mods forum, ROW is great so is RFB and TM.

Default Welcome U-96!

Welcome to the Pacific, where the girls are pretty, the men are smart and submarines are just loaded with 10 torpedo tubes and 24 torpedoes. You'll enjoy being the cause of victory instead of the cause of defeat too! Make sure you requisition that ice cream maker for your crew and leave a few targets for my boat.

Oh yes, I'm so looking forward to faulty torpedoes, the english language, and that bloody klaxon everytime I order the boat to dive :P

You should be looking forward to the excellent toys provided that help finding, tracking and sinking vessels. Once you have radar....you never go back! Welcome aboard...ice cream in the galley. Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!

Ouch...hurt me.....

Anyway, get patched up to 1.4 and grab some mods. The game is quite good. Needs some polish but it is getting there....in leaps and bounds.

I guessed you missed it. I'm a U-Boat commander, I'm so used to hearing German on my boat, so it's awkward to hear english. Has nothing to with me being French Canadian :P

Welcome to the Pacific! After SH3 I never thought an AMERICAN sub experience could compare. How wrong I was! After playing SH4 I've been inspired to read a ton about the submarine effort in the Pacific, and there's just as much, if not more, to sink your teeth into when compared to U-boats in the Atlantic. Enjoy the experience, and yes...you'll LOVE the radar!

Good Hunting,
Howler

p.s. I do miss them screaming, "Aaallllaaarrrrmmmm!" dearly though...oh well...

Yeah, I'm afraid my enthusiasm for SH4 has caused me to neglect SH3 too much. I've always loved the U-boat story and SH3 is a great game, but SH4 has me in its clutches and isn't about to let go since I've been into Trigger Maru and the challenge is high enough to sustain my interest.

Oh well, I suppose SH3 is patient and it is in no danger of leaving my hard drive. It's just probably the ice cream I like and when that runs out....

I'm sure everyones heard the immortal phrase in movies, TV, or books, "Take her down!".
The story behind that:

If you do some reasearch, you'll find all sorts of cool stories or accounts like that.
