Default [REL] TM Beta patch 1.7.3

I thought id toss this up incase anyone wants to try it out. Primarly because i dont have the time to adequately test it, and also because im having some serious driver issues on my PC, and am unable to run SH4 without some serious, lag and choppyness. (ive uninstalling and reinstalling drivers about 10 times now with no avail).

Primary file changes

sim.cfg->Visual-> Thermal Layer Signal Attenuation from 1.0 to 5.0.

AI_sensors.dat -> additional visual nodes are now inside this dat, as opposed to being in a seperate dat file.

AI_visual_sensors.dat-> All nodes have been removed from this dat file. This is to avoid having two nodes of the same name being seen by the game, which causes issues. This file is being included so you can just install the patch over the existing TM1.7.2. (alternatly, you can disable TM1.7.2 and delete the AI_visual_sensors.dat from it, and this patch, if your happy with this patch)

data/air/*.*/*.SNS files -> changed some node assigments.

-----------------------

Specific changes to air visual nodes:
AirS_visual
- This node is for single seat aircraft. As such the visual arc is changed from 180 to 150.

- “MinSurface” from -4.35 to -2.2

- initial testing seems to indicate that submerged detection for aircraft using the AirS_Visual i.e. single seater/fighter etc is at or around 1000 metres.

AirB_visual
- “MinSurface” from -4.35 to -2.5

- initial testing seems to indicate taht submerged detection for aircraft using the AirB_Visual i.e. 2 seater/bombers etc is at around 1500 metres.

If you encounter any bugs or weird behavior from the AI or the game itself, please let me know. If this patch works out, it will probably be the last update i do for quite awhile, possibly even my last update. edit: Be in port before enabeling this

Duci,

I have been doing some testing with the AirS_visual parameter in TM-1.7.2 over the last several days. Thought I was getting closer, but, now not sure as I didn't realize the AirB_visual node was used (until I read your post).
Anyway, here is some preliminary data:
- AirS_visual = -2.2 -> calm seas, good weather, not detected at PD, 80 ft, or 100 ft depths. I do not recall the aircraft type.
- AirS_visual = -3.35 -> calm seas, good weather; detected, strafed, and bombed at PD by single engine fighter and a twin-engined aircraft (Betty ?). Pair came around 3 times. Prior to the 3rd pass, I dropped to 100 ft and was not bombed or strafed.

Ducimus,

How are you man, I had just settled down to a nice quiet cruise....and now this... ....Dude!

Hey, what driver version is driving you nuts, I have the same issue with my 7950 GT it does not want anything to do with these new drivers....so I run 9x.xx series WHQL. 162.18's NO GO, bad FPS with SH4 and IL-2, frustrating as all get out, this long weekend I may try some of those hopped up modded drivers on Guru3D.com just for kicks.

Let me know if you resolve anything with this driver issue. I am to the point where if my frames and pictures are pretty now why mess with it....

I was having the same problems... running an O/C'ed 8800GTS (640MB Ram) on Vista32... serious frame rate droppage and stutter (FPS going from 100+ to 5 and back in a matter of fractions of a second) and other weirdness that just wasn't there in SH4 1.3. I think this is the buffer issue another poster mentioned somewhere in one of these threads. But rather than drop quality for performance in my nVidia configurations as suggested, I took a shot on the latest beta driver... 169.25 I think.

Problem solved.

If this is you, might want to give that a shot.

Thanks Ducimus, like almost everyone else I love your mod. I know you are saying that this might possibly be the last update forever....we'll see.

Toastman: To be on the safe side you should always be in port when you install/patch a mod like this.

Probably would be best to be in port before enabeling this. If it was just a value change inside the dat file youd be ok, but since its changing nodes, in port is the safest way to go. I posted this late last night. It was a case of, forcing myself to do it, otherwise i probably wouldn't do it at all for quite awhile. Plus, i have a new computer coming, and this one will soon be cleaned up and delegated as the wifes gaming rig.

Driver wise, i havent had a problem until i started messing around with getting Crysis to run on this box. Until i installed and started tweaking with crysis, SH4 ran great. Maybe its a direct X codex, or drivers. As i even installed a beta driver that was supposed to give better performance in crysis - against my better judgement And yes, ive run driver cleaner pro, and even driver clearer platinum. No dice. Not sure what it is anymore. Everthign else seems to run fine, its just SH4, that is utterly unplayable.
