I've seen this discussed before in these forums, but, evidently I'm not getting it.
Playing TM-1.6.5 with a modded version of RSRDC over it and a Gar class boat. Using Silent 3ditor, I opened \Data\Submarine\NSS_Tambor\NSS_Tambor.zon, looked up the "crash depth" and found it to be 162 (meters ?). So 162 X 3.2808 = 531.5 ft. So, took her down to 425' and started flooding ! What am I missing ? I'm pretty sure I have no battle damage. beartooth91 |

The crush depth in the file is not reported in meters. It is a value that then goes through some calculations before being the final value. The first thing you should do to convert this to meters is devide by 1.4. So the 162 in your file should be about 116 meters or 381 feet. SH4 doesn't give you much warning when you start taking damage and the damage builds up much slower then in SH3 so you might be able to go well past that value for a long time before you get crushed. Even so being past that value will slowly gather damage until you die.
Since the value is a calculated one, you might start taking damage just before this value. I normally give it a 10 foot clearance since it is difficult to notice in SH4 when you do start taking damage from going too deep. |

I haven't messed with crush depth since the stock 1.0 version, at that time there wasn't much to tell you that you were too deep compared to SH3. But then I was new enough that I might have missed flickering lights.
At any rate I am glad I could help you out with your question. |
