I don't quite understand this protest. Brits are mad at ever increasing petrol price. so they are going to clog major road routs by blocking all lanes of travel and drive slowly? How does this hurt oil companies or the government. Protesters decide to drive with an emphasis on large gas guzzling trucks to the oil companies will see increased sales from it. Second it's a Saturday so the majority of government is not in operation. All i can see the protest doing is making a headache for the average citizen and commercial truck drivers. I just don't get it.

In the US people have tried sending out mass emails asking people not to purchase petrol on certain days. However there is very little fallow thru. Even if one could get a large percentage of people it really hut companies because people will make it up the next day.

Now the way to really effect gas prices is to stage a 4 day protest and refuse to buy gas. In the US (I assume the UK is similar) there is only a 3 day supply a gas after that there is none left. That means if the majority of the country does not by gas than after 3 day all storage tanks, station are filled to the max. and Oil companies will be forced to shut down refineries, production rigs and stop shipping. This will cost oil companies 100s of millions of dollars. If it was done in the US it would send shock wave every where even hurting OPEC. If it could be organized and is successful then the very threat of it happening again could lower gas prices in the feature.
