The fix doen't fix anything. At least not the aspect. The resolution will still be higher, but it will still be stretched no matter what you do, plus you can't alt-tab.
You're better off cranking up AA and AF, and you'll just have to live with the crappy aspect.
If you have a DVI monitor you may be able to set it so you have black bars on either side in your graphics driver settings... I'm not so lucky.
