Of course it looks fine with the CRT, you would have to make a photo of the LCD showing the color banding, since the screenshot is taking in the graphics card so to say, and that has nothing to do with how the image gets displayed on screen.

BTW: I also had the color banding on my CRT, but not as noticable as on my LCD

ive got the same monitor with the same problem, only i notice the banding when i'm using the external camera underwater.

i just tried updating my driver from "analog" to "digital"

we'll see how it goes

Got it sorted. What fixed it was replacing the nvidia drivers with the latest. During the installation and restart the monitor resynchronised with the card and it's working much the way I expected it to out of the box.

I'd already tried the monitor drivers and other tweaks but this was what fixed it for me.

Sorry I'm at work and can't remember the version number, but I just went nvidia.com and used their automatic update feature that works out what graphics card you have and downloads and installs the latest version of the drivers. I'm using a GF 7900GS 256MB card.nvidia.

Go here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Then select option 2 to automatically find the drivers. If that doesn't work use Option 1 to find the right driver for your card.
