Heh, you've inspired me to have a look at it now. I've only opened it once tbh and didn't really give it much thought.

There's no way to keep the gramophone and the chart I assume?

I only tried using the speed chart once and it didn't exactly work out as I ended up way behind my target, but I would hate to see it go...

Tried to mod this, but it's not possible.
The lock triangle is coded in the exe file.

I also tried it the other way around.
Using manual targeting removes the problem.
So I tried to mod manual to semi auto targeting.
Also no joy..

I've also asked the devs, they say it not possible to mod.

ontopic.. I voted remove both..

I'd say keep 'em both. I don't use TMaru, but I've scavenged it for some of its parts I liked. One of it was the speed chart (the air nav map I don't know how to implement to RSRDC, as it uses different air bases I think, but I'd gladly do it if I could). Only yesterday, as a matter of fact. Got the gramophone playing within seconds of seeing the chart for the first time. And you're telling me people complain they can't use the gramophone anymore?! Maybe you should just redo the buttons...big, fat colorful buttons with PLAY, STOP etc written in garish letters all over them! Now, if only I could understand how that blasted speed chart actually works! :rotfl:

Not to worry there are masses of users that love it.....we are just very quiet about it.

I really like the stealth gramaphone, I always thought the original to be very goofy.

The big map with all the airbases, is it historical???, very pretty and informative, but not much in the way of Fog of War. Should be an option for those starting out and definately a NoNo for the hard core.

What can I tell you Ducimus; what ever you produce I am sure I will be happy with.....if not I can always "Flavor it to taste" (pun intended) with some of my own little additions just for kicks.

The whiners be damned!

Keep em both! I'm sure there was a lot of work that went into either project and it would be a shame to see either go.

This is what I thought of earlier:

I need maybe 8 of them with different dates.

Ahhhhh , i see said the blind man.

I like that MUCH, MUCH better, preserves the fog of war. I think i see your logic. Tie that graphic into some *special* airbases , make it enter a specfiic date, make it exit by a specific date, and the battle line changes over time.

Pure genius Tater!

Map objects don't have to be tied to anything at all, actually. Place them, and add dates, that's it.

Better still! You taking this project on full bore, or just something kicking around on the back burner? If your following through on this idea of yours, these airbase markers are gone, ive come to really not like them at all.

Well, I have the outline above in illustrator (over the game map as a template). I can move the curves where I want and evolve the front. That's a mid-may 1942 version. Mid august would have Guadalcanal split I guess. I want it kind of coarse, frankly. My thought was beginning of war nothing at all. Beginning of 42, move a line out someplace. Maybe 3 lines for 1942, then 3 for 1943, 2 for 44, and 1 in 45.

The red line is easy. If I want to mask the whole area reddish, it gets more complicated.

BTW, any such mod will be an add-on to Jace11's map labels since they share a file.

I push forward on it ASAP. Nice thing is all my graphic design stuff is on my mac which is up in the family part of the house instead of my "man room." As a result I can do this during times when it would interfere with family time otherwise.

I just need baseline maps for each time period.

I like the battle line map much better than having all air bases. It let's you know where the enemy might be while still keeping the fog of war. More realistic imo.

I'm trying to find a map that has held territory for each year but so far all I can find is the maximum help by the IJN.

I'll keep looking.
