The double image is what creates the range, which is then sent to the TDC via the red button.
Set the waterline of one image to the top mast of the other and then click the mouse. You now have a range figure which can be sent to the TDC via the red button. Check out the tutorials: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=108931 Hope that helps.
