Ignoring the periscope handle on the outside for a bit, there are three rings of numbers. The inside one is your target's AoB, which will be the result of our gyrations. But it also has a silhouette of our target and labels for Starboard and Port. AoB is always between 0º and 180º, necessitation the S & P designations. The middle ring of numbers is compass course for both self and target. The outside ring is for bearing to target. The periscope indicator lets you precisely read the result and isn't always a part of these whiz wheels. Let's go! First, from your plot, aim the arrow at the bow of your target to the compass course on the middle wheel. Then ....nope, not gonna work my way because in RL I rotate the two inner wheels together and set own course. Never mind.... First set your own course. See on the outside on top it's pointy and has a semicircle on the bottom? The is the bow and stern of your own boat. Grab the middle ring of compass course numbers and put your course opposite the 180 at the top, where your bow is shown. This is the tricky part because you'd think your own course would be opposite the zero. WRONG!!! Each ring is moved by dragging its yellow handle area. Second, grab the inner wheel representing the target and point its bow arrow at zero toward its course. Lastly grab the periscope handle and set it to the target's bearing as shown by your periscope. Reading the number indicated on the inner ring of numbers (target) will give you the Aob. Inspection will tell you whether it is starboard or port. Done!!! I never use it. Had to review the diretions on how to do it. I hang my head in shame.
