Progress Report:

`42 has 1610 messages.

Much formating is done, in checking and comparing have found a few process date mistakes from other messages that would cause them never to be shown, corrected.

This mod includes all the messages_en Stock, NYGM, War Ace, and GWX already provide. With the exception of GWX 1.03 having 53 more ( 29th. / 30th flotilla etc. ) I don't know about 1.04.

New estimate would place aprox. final # around 6,700 messages.

Danurve, you have a PM sir! I'm long-time lurker here and may not be smart enough to communicate via PM with you, so if you get it please use my email address if you want to write me back. Or you could reply here if it pleased you.

Basically, I have been silently working on a radio log mod myself (for my own private use, thus no modding permissions have yet been sought from Irish Red or any of the other guys who have tackled this before- I haven't intended to publish my work publically) for the last 11-13 months, plugging away every week using historical sources. I play GWX and have been compiling daily message traffic from AUG 15, 1939 and have just begun on Dec. 1940. My intention was to do the whole war based on the BdU KTBs, the work of Jurgen Rohwer, Blair and numerous other sources.

My eventual plan was to break the radio log into distinct packages activated by JGSME to use with GWX 2.0. This way, depending on which Flottilla I was playing I would have unique tactical radio traffic. I have been working on the BdU stuff for the Atlantic (and North Sea in late '39 early '40) including very detailed radio traffic for Norway and the Convoy battles of Fall of '40. I am going to work thru 1945 and then go back and start crafting a package for FdU Mediterranean, finish that, then do the Black Sea and finally for FdU Norway. The plan for me (my own use) was to be able to "hear" radio traffic for whatever radio circuit my personal boat was on (Coastal, Ireland, Toulon, Salamis, whatever) plus all standing war orders and also wehrmachtsbericht messages via the KM transmitter at Nordeich (armed forces communiques from Berlin). If the daily traffic gets to be too much (affecting gameplay because of TC issues) I was also gonna have just a "basic" message text with just standing war orders from BdU, general stuff from OKM, and Wehrmachtsbericht from Armed Forces Radio Berlin.

If I can help you in any way, let me know. Again, my intent was never to release a mod. However, the historical aspect of modding the radio log has taught me a whole bunch about U-Boat comms and message formatting etc and is frankly quite addictive. Done correctly (lots of work), one could potentially even issue direct orders to the player's Boat that interacted with the game. I'm using GWX and will be sticking to GWX 2.0 but have big plans next year to experiment with meshing my personal radio messages with the campaign BBW and others have crafted.

I'd be happy to help you complete your project. I know exactly how tedious this work is, but man, what a great way to learn the history of the War at Sea!

Respectfully,

Gumby

By the way, here is a small example of the formatting I have been using. This includes tactical, operational and strategic messages. I hope this displayes without screwing up the forum. If it looks bad, I'll delete this post.

Well, slowly back at it after some vacation time, holiday jazz, replacing a vehicle, winter camping, hunting & processing deer, plus a knee injury.

gum22; You have a PM.
Looks like you trying to hAve fun and located some nice resources. When I release Radiolog_Expanded it will be for all use, in other words compatable with all Mods, including stock on up. Sounds like your attempting something specificaly for GWX and in sections. I am just thinking generaly most players won't want to keep track of all that or have to remember switching with JSGME for a specific flotilla. But good luck anyhow.

You guys are scaring me with spelting accuracy

Actually it's encouraging to see more interest in a German Translation, that would be great to eventually be available. Perhaps a few guys could split up the years or some jazz.

Progress Report 11-30

RadioLog_Expanded WIP work has been chugging along.

Need to finish up '44 and a bit of what I can find for '45.
Current file size is 1.4 megs with over 6,875 messages.
1943 currently has about 800 messages.
'43 & '44 are a little thinner than the early war years. Message's content does reflect the course of the war. Anyhow, I am thinking to have a release available before X-mas.
The mod should have around 7,250 (est.) when done.
