Danurve, you have a PM sir! I'm long-time lurker here and may not be smart enough to communicate via PM with you, so if you get it please use my email address if you want to write me back. Or you could reply here if it pleased you.
Basically, I have been silently working on a radio log mod myself (for my own private use, thus no modding permissions have yet been sought from Irish Red or any of the other guys who have tackled this before- I haven't intended to publish my work publically) for the last 11-13 months, plugging away every week using historical sources. I play GWX and have been compiling daily message traffic from AUG 15, 1939 and have just begun on Dec. 1940. My intention was to do the whole war based on the BdU KTBs, the work of Jurgen Rohwer, Blair and numerous other sources. My eventual plan was to break the radio log into distinct packages activated by JGSME to use with GWX 2.0. This way, depending on which Flottilla I was playing I would have unique tactical radio traffic. I have been working on the BdU stuff for the Atlantic (and North Sea in late '39 early '40) including very detailed radio traffic for Norway and the Convoy battles of Fall of '40. I am going to work thru 1945 and then go back and start crafting a package for FdU Mediterranean, finish that, then do the Black Sea and finally for FdU Norway. The plan for me (my own use) was to be able to "hear" radio traffic for whatever radio circuit my personal boat was on (Coastal, Ireland, Toulon, Salamis, whatever) plus all standing war orders and also wehrmachtsbericht messages via the KM transmitter at Nordeich (armed forces communiques from Berlin). If the daily traffic gets to be too much (affecting gameplay because of TC issues) I was also gonna have just a "basic" message text with just standing war orders from BdU, general stuff from OKM, and Wehrmachtsbericht from Armed Forces Radio Berlin. If I can help you in any way, let me know. Again, my intent was never to release a mod. However, the historical aspect of modding the radio log has taught me a whole bunch about U-Boat comms and message formatting etc and is frankly quite addictive. Done correctly (lots of work), one could potentially even issue direct orders to the player's Boat that interacted with the game. I'm using GWX and will be sticking to GWX 2.0 but have big plans next year to experiment with meshing my personal radio messages with the campaign BBW and others have crafted. I'd be happy to help you complete your project. I know exactly how tedious this work is, but man, what a great way to learn the history of the War at Sea! Respectfully, Gumby |
