Well, since I live in MI the only thing I can really say is the Great Lakes freighter. As far as bulk carriers go, they are unique and even a little majestic to watch sail by.
Unless it happens to be this one:

None of the above, my vote is for airships!

But seriously, probably warships. I like modern fast frigates and destroyers, and by extention the older cruisers.

I also have an affinity for Flower Class Corvettes. Short, Clumsy, Ugly, A Sailors Nightmare. Kind of like going to sea on a bobber. But they were amazing in their own right.
Come to Halifax someday I'm sure you know that we have a very well-preserved Flower here open to the public. I'll get you into all the good tours if you are ever in town.

Yup, the second turret aft of the superstructure gave that one away. To bad they have abandoned the battleship . . . probably would have been better the the DD that they are building now . . . and probably a lot more survivable.

I can't see why they just can't build a pocket battleship with AEGIS, SPY, and VLS . . . the technology is already out there . . . so it's not like it will cost that much . . . you just build in significant size to reduce unit cost . . . and there you go.
